Madonna, Colman Domingo, Irina Shayk and More Attend Mert Alas and Seventy One Gin Party for Saint Valentine
At long last, we got what we’ve been desperately missing this New York Fashion Week: a Madonna sighting.
In true form it came close to midnight, and at the behest of Mert Alas, her longtime friend and collaborator.

Alas gathered friends at this NYFW’s venue of choice, Clemente Bar, for a party celebrating Saint Valentine. The model-heavy crowd included Irina Shayk, Joan Smalls, Martha Hunt, Jessica Stam, Daria Strokous, Georgia Fowler, Adriana Lima, Aweng Chuol, Delilah Belle Hamlin and Amelia Gray; actor Colman Domingo, and fashion folk Johannes Huebl and Olivia Palermo, Blake Abbie, Beverly Nguyen and Rachel Zoe.
The Hamlin sisters mugged it up for the cameras as they reached the top of the stairs, each letting the other have their moment. Nguyen paused on the stairs to photograph the ceiling, a moment that proved worthy of photographing in itself by her friend.
“I’m obsessed with you,” Domingo, who is nominated for an Oscar for “Sing Sing,” was told by an apparent fan. “Is it hot in there?” Domingo asked, wondering if he should shed an additional layer before heading into the cocktail room. He correctly chose to: Clemente Bar may be new and therefore noteworthy, but its size means all it takes is a handful of people and it is wall to wall with bodies.
The night featured drinks with Seventy One gin, ranging from classic gin and tonics to a variety of speciality cocktails on hand. Around 11 p.m., Soo Joo Park rolled in decked in a deep pink gown and took to the mic stand for a brief set. For many it marked the end of the night, but Madonna had yet to even arrive.
