“The Lost Boys” on Broadway! Musical Adaptation of 1987 Film Set for the Stage with Songs by The Rescues
The horror-comedy will arrive on Broadway Spring 2026 at the legendary Palace Theatre
The Lost Boys is the latest movie to be turned into a Broadway musical.
On Monday, Jan. 27, producers James Carpinello, Marcus Chait and Patrick Wilson announced a stage adaptation of the beloved 1987 horror comedy, set to opened in Spring 2026 at the Palace Theatre in New York City.
No casting for the production was named, but the musical will feature a score from Kyler England, Adrianne "AG" Gonzalez and Gabriel Mann of indie rock band The Rescues.
“From the outset, we imagined a production with soaring melodies, creative storytelling, haunting themes, and an original score that had to be as impactful as the legendary soundtrack of the film. A tall order — but we found all those things, and more, with The Rescues," Carpinello, Chait and Wilson said in a statement. "And while they’ve created an epic new score full of original songs, we’re thrilled that they’ve also been able to breathe new life into a few of their existing melodies, reworking them for The Lost Boys in ways that devoted fans of the band are sure to appreciate."
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star, scribe and executive producer David Hornsby will write the musical's book, alongside Chris Hoch, an actor with a sea of Broadway credits including A Christmas Carol, Matilda: The Musical, and Shrek: The Musical.
"David Hornsby and Chris Hoch have done a remarkable job of honoring this classic film and its beloved characters, creating something new and unique for the stage that will excite the die-hard fans of the movie as well as those being introduced to this timeless story for the first time," Carpinello, Chait and Wilson said.

Tony winner Michael Arden (Maybe Happy Ending) — who Carpinello, Chait and Wilson call "one of the most dynamic directors working today" — will direct. He'll collaborate again with choreographers Lauren Yalango-Grant and Christopher Cree Grant, whom he worked with on the 2023 revival of Parade.
Other members of the creative team include Ethan Popp (music supervisor), Dane Laffrey (scenic designer), and Tony winner Susan Hilferty (costume design). Devin Keudell will serve as executive producer.
The Lost Boys follows brothers Michael and Sam Emerson (Jason Patric and Corey Haim on screen), who move with their divorced mother (Dianne Wiest) to the fictional town of Santa Carla, California, only to discover the town is a haven for vampires.
Directed by Joel Schumacher with a story by James Jeremias and Janice Roberta Fischer, the movie also starred Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Feldman, Jami Gertz, Edward Herrmann, Barnard Hughes and Jamison Newlander.
Since its release, the film has developed a fan favorite following, many embracing it for its depiction of a younger generation of vampires well before Twilight, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and True Blood made the niche a staple in the genre. Two film sequels (2008's Lost Boys: The Tribe and 2010's Lost Boys: The Thirst) followed, as well as two comic book series.
Meanwhile, a private, invitation-only industry presentation of The Lost Boys, A New Musical will take place on March 14. Official Broadway dates and casting will be announced soon.
