The Block 2023: See all the photos from inside Kyle and Leslie's house
Kyle and Leslie pulled off a beautiful finished product.
The Block's Kyle and Leslie saw their reserve set at $2,970,000. During a nail-biting auction their house ended up selling for $3,100,000, earning them a profit of $130,000.
The couple told Yahoo Lifestyle they were feeling âmixed emotionsâ following their auction.
âWe really enjoyed the show and being a part of it. We would be stupid to say we were not expecting more,â Kyle said.
After receiving arguably some of the harshest criticism from the judges on The Block 2023, take a look inside their finished home.
Week 12 - Front yard and facade
After using the bulk of their remaining budget on their backyard, Kyle and Leslie were in dire straits this week attempting to complete their front yard and remaining rooms. After controversially selling their gnome to Steph and Gian, they had a little more wiggle room and pulled off a lovely front yard.

Judges comments
âI love the sound of the water feature as soon as you walk inâ - Shaynna.
âThis is a really, really solid first impression. The structure of the entry, everything here for me is just a beautiful begin for the buyer to walk into this homeâ - Marty.
âIt just doesn't seem to fit, maybe a lighter colour, like an oak matching the brickwork would have been a better choiceâ - Marty.
âReally nice juxtapositionâ - Darren.
âJust the front here just looks a little bit bland, I'd be trying to cover up all the brickwork because it is all chippedâ - Dave.
âItâs a big enough garageâŠthis would have a much nicer look and feel if it had a beautiful wet look seal on itâ - Marty.
âI do love the drivewayâ - Dave.
âThatâs very elegant, architecturalâ - Shaynna on the entryway.
âThis whole entry acts like a funnel. I love how itâs broad here, and these gentle curves⊠just really guide you throughâ - Darren on the entryway.
âOn the screen this will just jump outâ - Marty.
Week 11 - Backyard and pool
The Block's Kyle and Leslie gambled big time on their backyard and pool, depleting their budget in the hopes of taking out a win. Unfortunately for them, it wasnât the victory they were banking on. While the judges liked a lot about the design and execution, they felt that the floating stones up to the pool were a safety hazard for young children.

âThatâs a massive feature out thereâ - Dave Franklin on the water feature above the pool.
âThis is incredible, look at these steppersâ - Marty.
âThereâs a lot of thought thatâs gone into just getting these steps hereâ - Dave Franklin.
âFrom a marketing perspective, buyers will just say âIâve got to see itââ - Marty.
âIf I had my kids here I would be stressing 24/7 of the kids falling off left, right and centreâ - Marty.
âThere is no way in hell that I would want little kids up on this thingâ - Darren.
âThe styling on the table is not sophisticated enough⊠they need to sell the sophisticated dream and then people will not be talking about their kids falling off â - Shaynna.
âThe paving choice is perfectâ - Dave.
âAcoustically though, would you plan a seating area next to an air conditioner?â - Darren
âThey need to put another two pavers here and push this back⊠because theyâll come around there corner and this is like a dead cornerâ - Shaynna on the side seating area.
âThere is a lot of space between the plungey and the glass balustradeâ - Darren.
Week 10 - Upstairs bathroom and redo room
Kyle and Leslie were taking on their final bathroom and decided to redo their âcontroversialâ living room. After the judges criticised the size of the room, they decided to knock out a wall and open up the space.
After a rough few weeks of feedback from the judges, the coupe were hoping for a change in tide.

âAlright!â - Darren
âItâs stunningâ - Shaynna on their redo room.
âNow it feels generous and openâ - Neale.
âIt does feel like the proportions required of a house of this sizeâ - Darren.
âThis is the first time in a long time that I feel their floor plan and their aesthetic have finally come togetherâ - Shaynna.
âThatâs hotâ - Darren on their bathroom tiles.
âI love the fact itâs a small space and theyâve been able to fit a vanity.. A bath, a toilet, a showerâ - Shaynna.
âWhen you first walk in, itâs all about the toiletâ - Shaynna.
âTheyâve got the space for a separate toilet, that landing areaâ - Shaynna.
âI would leave this bathroom and probably forget the detailâ - Neale.
âThey make great decisions and then put them in the wrong placeâ - Darren.
Week 9 - Upstairs bathroom and redo room
Kyle and Leslieâs floor plan has left them with two very spacious kids' bedrooms. As parents of two boys, 11 and 7, they chose to take a lot of inspiration and advice from them. But, it was another rough week of judging for the pair. The judges questioned their styling choices and pointed out that these rooms feel more spacious than their master bedroom. Money is proving to be another pressure point for the couple, and a room or challenge win is definitely needed.

Judges comments:
âItâs a very themed bedroom isnât it?â - Darren.
âSuch a stark difference from the other rooms of this house⊠I donât feel like Iâm actually in house oneâ - Marty.
âIf youâre going to do this theme, do it to that high-end finish. Iâd probably take the posters stuck on the wall off, I would put them in a frameâ - Shaynna.
âThereâs nothing offensive in here, but it is pigeon-holedâ - Marty.
âThis is so marketable⊠This one here for me has really ticked the boxâ - Marty on their second room.
âAll thatâs going through my mind is how cramped the master bedroom feels when you walk inâŠsomeone would walk in here going âoh, the kids have more room than meââ - Shaynna.
Week 8 - Master Ensuite
The arches in Kyle and Leslieâs bathroom walls were a big challenge to tackle this week, but with some extra cash in the bank from winning the HiPages âBest on the Blockâ award they were able to pull it off. However, once again, the functionality of the room was an issue for the judges.

âI love the balance and symmetry in here, I think that is just aesthetically really calming, really pleasing.â
âItâs elegant, itâs classy, itâs beautiful. Honestly, it just feels luxuriousâ- Shaynna.
âItâs a little bit pokeyâ - Shaynna on the size of the shower.
âI donât want to stand on a grate to have a showerâ - Shaynna.
âI think theyâre really trying, I think itâs just that spatial planning is their weaknessâ - Darren.
Week 7 - Kitchen and Laundry
The Block's Kyle and Leslie were a bit disheartened after a rough master bedroom critique. With their kitchen situated at the back of their house these two were really hoping the judges noticed how much theyâd considered the functionality of the kitchen. While the judges loved the kitchen, they thought the butlerâs pantry was not the best use of space.
Points: 25
Spend: $33,740
Judges comments:
âSexyâ - Shaynna.
âI donât think I've ever seen skylights used in that way before, stunningâ - Neale.

âStorage galoreâ - Darren.
âThe floorplan is their kryptonite unfortunately, it brings them undone each weekâ - Shaynna.
âIn this instance, less than perfect is still exceptionally goodâ - Darren.
Week 6 - Master bedroom and walk-in robe
After a tough week The Block's Kyle and Leslie chose to remove a wall and extend the size of their master bedroom. The rendered archway/ bed head was the main feature of the room, however the judges did point out it could pose an injury risk, Overall, the coupleâs choices did not win the judges over.

Judges comments:
âI love the texture⊠but really on a bed head you kind of want something thatâs gently tactile not really aggressiveâ - Darren.
âI walk into here and straight away I see everything I donât want to seeâ - Shaynna.
âThis is a room that could have done moreâ - Marty.
Week 5 - Living and Dining
Kyle and Leslie went into Living and Dining Room week with the smallest space of all the properties, and things didnât get much better from there. Space was a massive issue for the judges, both the room size and the size of the furniture that Kyle and Leslie chose.
Points: 20
Spend: $31,561
Judges comments:
âThis just feels really tinyâ - Shaynna
âIs this really the only living space for a house of this size? Because my immediate thought was this feels quite constrictedâ - Neale Whitaker.
âIt is always a bad sign though when you see something thatâs clearly a modular and two other pieces of that same sofa in a different roomâ - Darren.
âItâs actually the dimensions of the living space you would find in a studio apartmentâ - Neale.
âThis could actually lose them the auctionâ - Shaynna.
âI feel like Kyle and Leslie have a real sophisticated aesthetic, itâs a beautifully styled and built disasterâ - Neale.
Week 4 - Downstairs Bathroom
The Block's Kyle and Leslie have impressed the judges week after week with their simplicity and styling. They took a massive risk for their downstairs bathroom with the smallest room in Block history and it paid off.
The judges loved how considered the room was, they could also see their strategy coming to life and are really excited about where they plan to take the rest of the house.

"What they've done, is they've missed the opportunity to actually be self-contained... particularly with a pool, the whole thing's carpeted. At least one of these spaces should've had floorboards. "- Marty.
"Looks great, but it doesn't really do much." - Shaynna.
