Fans outraged after major 2024 ARIA Awards blunder: 'Such a waste'
Viewers took to social media to slam the red carpet live stream, which was hosted by Christian Wilkins and Bridget Hustwaite.
The 2024 ARIA Awards haven’t gotten off to the best start, with the pre-show broadcast being plagued with technical issues. Fans tuning into the live coverage of the red carpet on YouTube on Wednesday afternoon were left disappointed as the broadcast had no sound for the first 29 minutes.
Red carpet hosts Christian Wilkins and Bridget Hustwaite interviewed several artists at Australian music’s night of nights, including Charley, Dobby, and Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, but viewers couldn’t hear anything they were saying.
At one point the broadcast cut to the TV colour bars, and also accidentally showed a snippet of The Kid Laroi’s pre-recorded performance.

While comments have been disabled on the YouTube broadcast, fans have taken to social media to complain about the unfortunate tech problem.
“Not enjoying the ARIA Red Carpet far, I'm getting any audio on the YouTube live stream,” one person posted on X, while another added, “Where’s the sound on your YouTube stream?”.
“Fix your live stream,” someone else demanded.
'It’s pointless to watch with no sound'
Others also flooded ARIA's official Instagram account with comments criticising the blunder, with one person writing: “There’s no audio for the YouTube live stream, it’s pointless to watch with no sound.”
“I am not a lip reader, could you please turn the audio on?” another shared, followed by a different user who said, “If YouTube is the only place streaming the red carpet right now then that's a big waste of breath because we can't hear a thing”.

“They're interviewing my favourite band Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers but I can't hear anything! PLEASE fix it,” someone else replied, with another writing, “Aaahhhhhh. Get the audio sorted. Bloody hell”.
“There is no sound on the live stream. Will you fix that?” one fan asked.
The live stream ended up broadcasting with sound at 1:59pm - 29 minutes after it began - and eventually replayed the coverage from the beginning.
