He explained, "I hadn't worked in a while and my son was giving me a hard time for not working and I was like, 'Sash, this isn't a great part. It's like, this guy's a complete douche canoe.' And he was like, 'You got to work.'"

Based on The New York Times bestselling author Elin Hilderbrand's novel by the same name, The Perfect Couple transports viewers to Nantucket, Mass., where the Winburys are hosting a lavish family wedding at their seaside estate, Summerland. In addition to Schreiber, the cast included Nicole Kidman, Dakota FanningMeghann Fahy, Eve Hewson, Sam Nivola, Jack Reynor and Billy Howle.

Though Schreiber had his doubts about playing Tag, Hilderbrand previously revealed to PEOPLE at the Los Angeles premiere of the Netflix show that she actually had the actor in mind for the role even before he was cast.

"I was a huge Ray Donovan fan, he's one of my favorite actors. And I sent my wish to the showrunner," she added. "And she said, 'I don't know.' And then a few weeks later, she goes, 'Elin, you might get your wish.' And she didn't say in regard to what, but I was hoping that's what she was talking about."
