Liam Payne's devastating promise to girlfriend Kate Cassidy before his death
Kate Cassidy has revealed the promise Liam Payne made before the One Direction singer's shock death.
Liam Payne's girlfriend Kate Cassidy has revealed the One Direction singer's heartbreaking promise to her just weeks before his shock death last week. Liam was found dead after falling from a balcony at the Casa Sur Hotel in Argentina.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday local time, Kate posted a lengthy tribute to Liam after previously sharing a short message on Instagram Stories. She wrote: "I don't even know where to begin. My heart is shattered in ways I can't put into words. I wish you could see the huge impact you've had on the world, even as it feels so dark right now. You brought so much happiness and positivity to everyone – millions of fans, your family, friends and especially me. You are so incredibly loved."

She continued, "You are – because I can't say were – my best friend, the love of my life, and everyone you touched felt just as special as I did. Your energy was contagious, lighting up every room you walked into. None of this feels real, and I can't wrap my head around this new reality of not having you here. I'm struggling to figure out how to live in a world without you by my side. Together, we got to be kids again, always finding joy in the smallest things.
Liam's promise to Kate
"Liam, you had the kindest soul and the most fun-loving spirit. It feels like I've lost the best part of myself. I can't imagine a day without your laughter and love. You brought so much light into my life. A few weeks ago, we sat outside on a beautiful evening manifesting our lives together. I keep your note close, even though you told me not to look at it. It said, 'Me and Katie to marry within a year/engaged & together forever 444.' Liam I know we'll be together forever, but not in the way we had planned. You will always be with me. I've gained a guardian angel."
Kate finished by saying, "I will love you for the rest of my life and beyond, carrying our dreams and memories with me everywhere I go. Forever yours, Katelyn. 444."
She also shared the significance of the number 444, revealing it's an angel number. In the last slide of her Instagram carousel, it reads, "Sequence number 444 is the favourite number sequence of the angels. More often, you will see the number 444 when you are feeling alone. In simple sense, the number 444 reminds you that your angles are always there to support you. When you see this number you will be assured that you are protected and loved by angels."
Kate shares eerie detail before Liam's death
Kate had been on holiday with the singer in Argentina but left two days before Liam's passing and flew back home to Florida. She shared a video of her flying home, revealing she was only meant to be in Argentina for five days but stayed for two weeks.
Kate also shared an eerie detail from her flight, with the influencer being sat in the 1D seat on the plane. "Of course my seat was 1D, I feel like this happens every time I fly," she said, before saying she had anxiety before flying and showing footage of a rash on her neck.
Fans were left confused after Liam's death as the singer shared videos on Snapchat, documenting his time in Argentina with Kate. However, it is believed these videos were pre-recorded and posted on the day of his tragic death, as Kate was already home by this point.
Last Saturday, a heartbroken Kate took to Instagram to break her silence on her boyfriend's passing.
She shared a statement on her Instagram Stories, writing, "Thank you for all of the kind words and love that has been sent my way. I have been at a complete loss. Nothing about the past few days have felt real.
"I ask and pray that you'll give me the grace and space to navigate this in private."
She then shared a message to Liam, writing, "Liam, my angel. You are everything. I want you to know I loved you unconditionally and completely. I will continue to love you the rest of my life. I love you Liam."
Liam Payne's cause of death announced as police treat death as 'suspicious'
Before Liam's shock death, the manager from Casa Sur Hotel called emergency services claiming they had a "guest who is overwhelmed with drugs and alcohol" before saying, "He's destroying the entire room and, well, we need you to send someone, please."
Alberto Crescenti, head of the Buenos Aires’ public emergency medical services later revealed Liam fell around "14 metres".
Liam's cause of death was a result of multiple injuries sustained in the fall, which led to "internal and external haemorrhaging", and a fractured skull.
"According to the emergency medical team sent to the scene he had a fracture in the base of his skull, extremely serious injuries," Crescenti said, saying that Liam was dead when paramedics arrived on scene.
"Our role was to head there quickly, give medical attention, and try to resuscitate him, but his injuries were incompatible with life."
Police have not yet released further conclusive evidence regarding the circumstances of Liam's fall, and tests are now taking place to see if the singer had consumed drugs and alcohol. Police have said they found Liam's room in "complete disarray", with prosecutors saying on Thursday that they were treating the case as a "suspicious death" due to evidence collected on the scene that indicated Liam was going through "some kind of substance abuse outbreak" at the time of his death.
The Argentine public prosecutor's office said: "Everything indicates that the musician was alone" when the fall occurred.
