Konrad Bien-Stephen reveals truth about relationship with Megan Marx

They formed a romantic connection on Channel 10’s new reality show The Challenge Australia and had a steamy hook-up in the hot tub, and now Konrad Bien-Stephen has revealed where he and Megan Marx currently stand with each other after filming.

Chatting with Yahoo Lifestyle following his elimination on Monday night, the former Bachelorette contestant spoke openly about his relationship with Megan and how he feels about her post-show.

“Megan's a great girl and she's very open and she's very intelligent,” he says.

“And I guess it was just nice to have someone inside of [the house] to be intimate with or to have that understanding that you can do that and it doesn't mean that you have to date or it doesn't have to be anything serious. It’s just two adults having fun and that's what it is, and it doesn't need to be more than that.

“We're still friends, we still talk and we both understood at that time it probably wasn't going to be any more than that after. It is what it is.”

The 32-year-old, who previously dated Abbie Chatfield and recently sparked relationship rumours with singer Thelma Plum after accompanying her at the NGV Gala, went on to say that he doesn’t quite understand why there is such a public interest in his love life.

“It’s bizarre,” he remarks. “It can also make it difficult too when you do meet someone that you do like and they want to be private about it - obviously, I want to as well. It can add extra pressure that you don't need and don't want and it can kind of ruin a good thing.

“So it's hard to navigate and it is quite interesting that people would be so interested in it. But I guess by putting yourself up for a TV show and putting yourself in the public eye you’ve got to expect that sort of thing.”

Konrad and Brooke

Konrad first launched to fame after he appeared on Brooke Blurton’s season of The Bachelorette last year, where he made it all the way to the top four before being sent home. The pair ended up reuniting for the first time when they competed alongside one another on The Challenge, which Konrad admits he “wasn’t surprised” about.

“I was like, ‘Okay, well played’,” he laughs. “It’s funny, I made the joke, ‘Oh my god, the last time I saw you you didn’t give me a rose and I was getting into a limousine, so nice to see you’.

“When you're in the Bachelorette bubble, that’s everything that's going on and then months following it's still sort of your world. But that bubble had since burst and there were no hard feelings. We were partnered up three times throughout it, and we did well together in those challenges. I don't know if they expected more by casting us both, but it was fine.”

Konrad’s comments come shortly after Brooke told Yahoo Lifestyle that they worked “really well together” on The Challenge.

“I have a lot of respect for Konrad,” she said. “I lost it obviously when he and Abbie [Chatfield] decided to do me dirty post-Bachelorette, and that was also quite heartbreaking for me, especially with my friend having no consideration about what The Bachelorette season meant.

“He was dragged into that, but I have a lot of respect for him as a person. I actually don't really know him personally on a personal level, but I think he's a good guy.”
