Kmart shoppers go wild for 'brilliant' $13 item perfect for Father's Day
The popular item is being used for a very different purpose than what the retailer intended.
Dads are notoriously the hardest people in the family to buy gifts for, with people often purchasing chocolate, socks or alcohol when their birthday or Father’s Day comes around. However, one social media user has sent shoppers wild with their “innovative” gift idea using a $13 item from Kmart.
Taking to a popular Facebook group, the shopper posted a photo of a 2-Tray Tackle Box from the retailer. While the product is described online as a “must-have for your fishing adventures”, the box was filled with various chocolates and lollies.

“Snackle Box for dad’s birthday using tackle box from Kmart,” they captioned the post.
For an added touch, the box was also decorated with a custom sticker that read: ‘Dad’s Snackle Box’
'Stealing that idea!'
Social media users flooded the post with positive comments about how the ‘snackle box’ would be the perfect gift for Father’s Day on September 1 or Christmas - which is somehow less than five months away.
“Such an awesome idea!” one person wrote, followed by another who added, “What a great idea! Well done”.
“That's fabulous. Stealing that idea!” a third replied.
“Love this idea,” someone else shared, while others said it was “innovative”, “brilliant”, “so clever” and “very cool”.
TikTok users have also been using Kmart’s 12 Compartment Organiser for $5.50 to create a ‘snackle box’ for picnics, flights or road trips.
Downside to viral 'snackle box'
Meanwhile, one user has pointed out that Kmart’s Tackle Box and 12 Compartment Organiser - which is described online as being “ideal for nuts, bolts, fishing tackles, sewing accessories, first aid and stationery” - isn’t BPA free or food safe.
“I don’t understand how people are not aware that this is a bad idea, the toxins in the plastic will leech into the foods - plastic sweats when it gets hot and releases the toxins,” another replied.

TikTok users have been thoroughly washing the product with soap and water before using it as food storage, however, Kmart sells plenty of multi-section containers that are perfect for a 'snackle box'.
