Kmart shoppers divided over $15 kitchen gadget ahead of summer: 'Terrible'
While some Kmart fans are calling it the 'best product' of 2024, others didn't agree.
Kmart has divided with a new $15 kitchen gadget, with some calling it the 'best product' of the year and others saying it's 'terrible'. So, is Kmart's $15 Mini Ice Cream Maker the item of the year? Or should we not bother?
Influencer Amelia Liddy Sudbury is firmly in the 'obsessed' group, taking to Instagram to share her thoughts on the gadget. She shared, "I think this is the best product Kmart has come out with in like, the past year!"

"It's tried and tested already in my house," Amelia added. "And I just wanna show you how easy it is for you or even the kids by themselves to make fresh ice cream from scratch."
She also showed how small the gadget is, proving no matter how small your kitchen is, you probably have space for it!
Amelia added that "it's so simple" to make ice cream in just 15 minutes, showing how she makes chocolate ice cream, adding that Kmart has included recipes with the item.
The base recipe is just 80ml of skim milk, 50ml of thickened cream and 25g of icing sugar – to that, she added some chocolate syrup. Amelia also cautioned that you can't add more than 200ml total but said that you'll be surprised at how much you can get from it.
Before making the ice cream, she put the base of the machine into the freezer overnight, but you can just do it for a few hours if you don't have as much time.
Amelia mixed all the ingredients together, turned the machine on and slowly poured it into the machine. After 20 minutes, she tasted the ice cream and said it was "so creamy".
"I can't believe this thing," she said. "For $15, the kids can have one each!"
Amelia finished the video by saying, "So good, product of the year!"
Kmart fans react to $15 mini ice cream maker
Other Kmart fans were divided on the topic of the $15 mini ice cream maker, with one saying, "Your demonstration has convinced me I need one 👏."
"We tried and failed so badly," another said.
"Gotta try this ice cream maker... Pronto!" a third added.
"I have one, and honestly, it’s the worst," someone else said. "It takes forever to get the right consistency, and because it’s so small, it just makes a huge sticky mess. It’s fun as a novelty for the kids, but it’s a no from me."

In a Facebook group, many others debated whether it was worth purchasing, with one person saying, "I've heard this is fantastic!"
"I have two of these," another said. "One for each of my sons (7 and 4). It is AMAZING!!!! Even better because my 4 year old is anaphylactic to dairy, so now I know there will be no cross-contamination, as we ensure they stay separate. Highly recommend! Oh and super easy to use."
"It's terrible," a third simply added.
"Easy enough to use but you’re meant to keep the bowl in the freezer at all times, but it’s chunky & takes up room," the sole review on the Kmart website reads. "It makes about a bowl of ice cream so it isn’t practical. The paddle seems flimsy. I bought this on a whim, used once then put in cupboard where it will likely stay until the next clean out!"
