Kmart shopper stuns with clever hack for getting popular items
The savvy shopper's trick to finding popular 'in stock' products divides opinion. What do you think?
Ever wandered into Kmart looking for an 'in stock' item only to find it missing from shelves? It seems to happen to shoppers pretty often, especially with popular budget products or viral dupes.
But one savvy Kmart shopper seems to have discovered a hack to securing an item even if it’s missing in store.
Ali, who runs the popular TikTok page 7daysofmoney, revealed the hack after she recently went to her local Kmart looking for a $15 Christmas Grinch onesie that said it was in stock online but couldn’t find it.
“It said it was in stock. I get there and go through the store, but it’s not there,” she shared in the video, which has been viewed over 300,000 times.
After chatting to Kmart staff, she was told, “It’s there, it’s just out the back, there are nine of them,” she continued.
She then shared a tip to successfully secure an item that was displayed as in stock on the Kmart website but couldn't be found on shelves.
“What I needed to do is click-and-collect, and then [Kmart staff] have to go and look for it - that’s what one of the staff said,” she announced, adding that she wished she had known it sooner.
Her video attracted some mixed reactions from Kmart shoppers. While some said it didn't work that way, others confirmed they had tried the hack themselves, and it worked.
“I've done this. The website said it was in stock, nothing on the shelf…did a click-and-collect and had it the next day,” one shopper revealed.

“I literally did this the other day with Xmas pyjamas! None in the store. Click-and-collect from that same store, and boom, there the next day!” another confirmed.
But Kmart staff members were also quick to comment on her video, with many saying it's not that simple. They said, while there may be stock out the back, there was a certain process it needed to go through before it hit the floor so her hack won’t always work.
“They aren’t just out the back where someone can just grab it," one person shared. "It could be on one of the many pallets out the back. Has to be unpacked and scanned in first.”
“I work in retail, and while this is true for our store, we won't waste too much time looking for it,” another added.
Another Kmart worker added that staff should just be able to check out the back if you ask them to.
And the hacks didn’t stop there. Another keen Kmart shopper shared her own tip, saying that she hardly visits a store any more thanks to her OnePass account.
"We have OnePass, and for a few dollars a month, we get unlimited free delivery on Kmart and Target. We order everything," she said.
