“I found the process easy to do,” Mel explained. “Simply remove the plastic backing sheets, then the stones along the straight edge to create a more organic, natural look.”
She added that after laying the tiles onto the adhesive, you should fill in the gaps with the loose stones. “Blend them into the next sheet, then grout and seal,” she advised.
Mel noted that the project is somewhat time-consuming, so she recommends setting aside a day or two.
“Think of it like completing a giant jigsaw puzzle!” she said.
How do the Kmart stone tiles perform in high-traffic areas?
While the end results are show-stopping, Mel advises caution when considering where to use these tiles.
“I would probably avoid using them in wet areas like shower floors,” she explains. “The grout might be difficult to clean, and the stones could become slippery when wet.
"Once sealed, they should hold up to normal wear and tear, but I recommend re-sealing them annually to keep them protected and make cleaning easier. A quick pressure wash once a year should do the trick,” she concluded.
