Kmart fans blown away by 'brilliant' cleaning hack with $49 item: 'Will definitely be using this'

A savvy Kmart shopper has just created the best cleaning hack for those short on space. If you struggle with finding a home for all your different appliances – such as your vacuum, broom, dustpan, cleaning products and rags, wait until you see this “brilliant idea”.

Shelley Mutton shared her innovative hack on a Kmart Facebook group, revealing how she’d turned Kmart’s $49 Large 3 Tier Trolley into a portable cleaning trolley with everything you need. She added some hooks, extra storage and even a USB port to charge her electronic appliances. It’s completely mobile and handy for when you need to clean different parts of your house.

“My weekend project. We have [a] really small laundry that doesn’t hold a lot other than the washer and dryer. I didn’t want to put brooms on the wall so I made a cleaning trolley out of the large Kmart 3 Tier Trolley that can be wheeled to each space to clean,” she wrote in the caption.

“Almost everything came from Kmart. It has a USB charging port to charge our electric brush and glass vacuum so when we are done cleaning we just plug it into the powerboard in the laundry.

“Hopefully this will help us stay on top of the cleaning. I labelled everything so the kids will know where to return things.”

Her laundry space is on the small side as well as being “quite skinny” and Shelley said she's used to having a bigger room.

What accessories are used on the cleaning trolley?

Kmart’s $17 USB 4 Port Desktop Charger sits on the end and Shelley told other shoppers how she managed to rig it up in the comments.

“I stuck it on with Velcro dots, also from Kmart. I used superglue to stick the Velcro dots on the trolley and onto the charger. This way it can be removed if needed,” she explained.

The Magnetic Laundry Caddy stuck to the end of the trolley was also from Kmart and will set you back $12. Since it’s magnetic, she didn’t need to attach it to the trolley. However, she did mention in the comments she may add Velcro dots to anchor it on more securely.

The broom holders on the side are from Kmart, but the shopper recommends supergluing them to the trolley as they could fall off otherwise.

Shelley’s post has racked up over 800 reactions and hundreds of comments, with many saying they were going to try and recreate the cleaning trolley in their own home.

“Wow!!!! This is by far the BEST Kmart hack I have seen here ever!!! Awesome job!!!!!” one person exclaimed.

“Very inventive and clever, hope it works for everyone to pitch in with the cleaning,” another added.

“I was thinking about making a cleaning cart. Love this idea in action, and to add brooms and mops. I’m doing this,” a shopper wrote.

Another said they had the same trolley but used it for their sewing machine and overlocker, which sounds like another fantastic idea.
