During winter, there’s no better kitchen appliance to have than a slow cooker to make various stews, curries, soups and risottos that are perfect for the cold weather. While the device can often be expensive, with Breville’s Smart Temp Slow Cooker valued at $179.95, shoppers have been loving Kmart’s version at a much lower price point.

The retailer sells a 6.5 Litre Slow Cooker for $45 which features multiple temperature settings, an LED display, and a removable ceramic pot. One shopper shared a post in a popular Facebook group this week asking about the quality of the product and received plenty of positive responses.

“Mine is great. No issues and cook times are always spot on,” one person wrote, while another added, “I just bought one and it’s better than the expensive one I had”.

“We love ours. We use it almost daily and have been for a couple of months now. No need to fork out extra when this one works just the same,” a third shared.

“I love mine. Had it for years. I will be using it Saturday for lamb shanks,” someone else replied, followed by a different user who said, “I have one and we love it. Never had an issue with ours and I have had it over 3 years.”

“I have two. They’re fantastic,” another responded.

Kmart’s product page also lists hundreds of positive reviews from people praising the item, saying it’s easy to clean, looks great, and has plenty of useful features.

“No need to buy an expensive one, these are just as good quality and so much cheaper,” one shopper commented, while someone else wrote, “I would recommend this slow cooker to everyone, it’s big so can cook a whole chicken or roast”.

“Hesitated for years to buy and try a slow cooker. This turned out to be an amazing find,” another person shared. “Eating healthier, tastier food and the non-cooks have become cooks. Recommend unreservedly.”

Meanwhile, there have been plenty of TikTok creators demonstrating how they use the Kmart product to create simple and delicious meals. One woman (@demikacucca) made a three ingredient slow cooked Mexican chicken which she called “simple, quick, easy, cost-effective and yummy”, while another user (@iamsamanthajane_) prepared a chicken and pumpkin risotto.

“How has it taken me this long to get on the slow cooker train?!” she wrote.

If you’re looking to buy something smaller (and cheaper) from Kmart, they also sell a 5L Slow Cooker for $24 and a 3L Slow Cooker for $29.
