Kmart $30 hack blasted online: 'Waste of time'
It's rare a DIY hack cops so much heat but this one didn't hit the mark on Instagram.
If there’s one thing we love, it’s a cheap and cheerful Kmart hack, however the latest one posted online has received some harsh criticism.
The video, posted to the official Kmart Instagram account, shows a DIY influencer taking the $39 Stackable Stool from the budget retailer and transforming it into a fluffy, social-media worthy piece of furniture.
However, Kmart fans have blasted the video online, with one person calling it a “waste of time”.
In the video, the woman takes a roll of foam and glues it onto the stool, before taking a Faux Sherpa Bean Bag from Kmart, which retails for $30 and unstitching it at the seam.
Then, she takes her ‘trusty’ staple gun and expertly applies the faux sherpa material to the plain stackable stool.

The woman then demonstrates how she thinks the stool could be used - at the end of the bed as an ornament housing a plant and a book.
And while there’s no doubt it adds a bit of chic decoration to the woman’s room, many people online were less than impressed.
“$30+ for a bean bag you're going to cut up when you could go to spotlight & get 1m of material for way less?” one person said.
“The stool in its natural state is actually a nice piece of design though,” another wrote.
“That’s a hard no for me. The table was nice. Actually I’d like to buy the table. But you lost me at white fluffy stuff,” a Kmart follower wrote.
One person simply wrote: “How to ruin a good stool”, while another said: “Firm no for me!”
While many of the comments were harsh, some did commend the woman on her creativity.
“You’re so innovative,” one person said.
“Wow, what’s with all the negative assholes? I think this is so cute!! Good on you for making something that YOU enjoy!!” another wrote.
