Kevin Williamson Starts Filming ‘Scream 7’: “I’m So Grateful For This Opportunity & To Wes Craven”
Kevin Williamson has started filming Scream 7 and shared a post after work had wrapped for the day.
The director is returning to the franchise he helped start as the writer for the original film that was released in 1996 and directed by Wes Craven.

“I’m not supposed to post about Scream and I hope @spyglassmediagr and @paramountpics will forgive me but when you have one of the best days of your life it’s really hard to keep it to yourself,” Williamson shared on Instagram. “What an extraordinary day I had working with an amazing and talented cast and crew. They brought their ‘A’ game and had my back every step of the way.”
He continued, “I’m so very grateful for this opportunity and to Wes Craven who was on my mind through it all. The profound impact he has had on my life and career is endless. What a day! I can’t wait for tomorrow! #scream7.”
Scream 7 is set to open on February 27, 2026, and Kevin Williamson and Neve Campbell will return to the franchise they started in 1996. Williamson created the franchise and will direct the seventh installment, with Guy Busick set to write the script.
Courteney Cox is also set to reprise her role of Gale Weathers from the original slasher film. Others Mason Gooding and Chad Meeks-Martin. Newcomer Isabel May will play Sidney’s daughter, with Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, and Anna Camp also on board in new, undisclosed roles.
