Kelly Clarkson continues to put her appreciation for Chappell Roan’s music on display—and when she performed part of one song on her popular NBC daytime talk show this week, she kept every racy lyric in.
The Kelly Clarkson Show’s official Instagram and TikTok accounts later shared a video clip of the “Kellyoke” rendition of Roan’s “Red Wine Supernova” online. Clarkson, 42, performed the song on the show on Thursday, Jan. 16.
In keeping with nearly every other cover that the “Since U Been Gone” singer has tackled, fans heaped compliments on Clarkson for her “talent,” with one declaring her “The best there is. 🔥🔥🔥🔥.”
“GOD HER VOICE 😭 perfection I could weep,” one fan gushed as another agreed, writing that Clarkson "NAILS IT. EVERY. DAMN. TIME.”
While many fans urged the American Idol alum to collaborate with Roan or bring the 26-year-old singer on her show to perform a song together, others expressed surprise at Clarkson’s decision to sing one of the more suggestive lyrics included in “Red Wine Supernova,” though they were pleased that she did.
“Don’t be scared, Kelly. Sing that second verse. 🔥,” one fan encouraged as another said they were “so glad” that Clarkson "sang the whole bridge.”
“The twinkle in Kelly’s eye when she sang ‘I got a wand and a rabbit’ 😜,” one fan noticed as another wrote that they were “surprised” by the inclusion of the lyrics before adding, “Bravo 👏🏻.”
A fan on TikTok admitted that they “did not have Kelly Clarkson saying ‘I got a Wand and a rabbit’ on my bingo card but here we are,” while another speculated that Clarkson looked “so happy” singing the section in question.
