Yahoo Lifestyle Keke Palmer Embraces ‘60s Style With Leather Hat and Plaid Miniskirt for ‘Kelly Clarkson’ Interview
Keke Palmer brought old-school style to “The Kelly Clarkson Show” in New York City for her episode airing on Wednesday. The actress and singer is promoting her new film “One of Them Days,” in which she stars alongside SZA.
For the occasion, Palmer opted for a look evocative of ’60s style and popular trends from the decade. The “Nope” actress wore a tartan black and off-yellow miniskirt with a high-waist line and buttons running down the front placket of the piece. She paired the skirt with a black, long-sleeve turtleneck.

Palmer continued the color motif, wearing sheer black tights and black boots with a heel. She accessorized the look further with earrings and a black leather hat.
As for her glam, Palmer opted to show off her voluminous auburn hair, which was styled with soft curls that cascaded down her shoulders. Her glam included bold eyes, long lashes and a glossy lip for added definition.
Palmer’s look gave a nod to several Mod styles popularized during the 1960s. Her miniskirt, in particular, features a silhouette that exploded in the 1950s and continued to gain traction and popularity well into the 1960s, further informing silhouettes for dresses and more.
The actress and singer tends to use her sartorial style to reference the past. Most notably, Palmer gave a nod to suited looks and entertainers at the 2024 NAACP Awards last March, wearing a design courtesy of Tom Ford. “It’s a little ode to entertainers, the vaudevillians, the Sammy Davis Jrs., Julie Andrews, a little ‘Victor/Victoria,’” Palmer said of her look.
Palmer stars alongside SZA in the new film “One of Them Days.” The film follows friends and roommates Dreux and Alyssa, who work together to come up with the money they need to make rent before they’re evicted and their friendship falls apart. “One of Them Days” is now in theaters.
