Keanu Reeves says heart wants 'John Wick 5,' but 'I don't know if my knees do'

Keanu Reeves isn't ready for "John Wick" No. 5 just yet.

The longtime action star told "CBS Mornings" in an interview earlier this month that a new installment of the hitman series may have to wait for his body to recover.

"You can never say never," he told the outlet, "but my knees right now are saying 'You can't do another John Wick.'

"My heart does" want another "John Wick" installment, "but I don't know if my knees do," he said.

Reeves will return as the titular character in "Ballerina," a spinoff movie starring Ana de Armas set to premiere in 2025. His role is a mere cameo though, as de Armas takes the lead, starring as an assassin in her own right set to avenge the deaths of her family.

Directed by Len Wiseman, the film is set between "John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum" and "Chapter 4," meaning Wick would still be on the run and not yet (seemingly) dead of a bullet wound.

A notoriously enigmatic actor, Reeves has taken on a wide range of roles in recent months. He will also appear in "Good Fortune," a comedy film slated for 2024 that marks Aziz Ansari's directorial debut. In it, he will play an angel named Gabriel who tries to help a financially struggling guy (Ansari) find purpose by swapping lives with a richer man (Seth Rogen), which, spoiler alert, backfires.

Reeves is also fresh off the release of "Sonic 3," the newest installment of the hit video-game-turned-movie series. He plays Shadow, a foil for Sonic. While the role is certainly not as physical as the "Wick" films, or any other action flick, the actor told CBS he found it "exhilarating."

"Well, obviously you don't have your body, you don't have your eyes to help kind of communicate," he said of voice acting, "but you also have a wonderful freedom."
