Kate Middleton's Gradual Return to Work Continues with Second Meeting at Windsor Castle in a Week's Time
The Princess of Wales held another meeting at Windsor Castle on Sept. 24, this time about an event she attends annually
Kate Middleton has held another meeting with palace officials as she continues her gradual return to royal duty.
According to the Daily Telegraph, a Court Circular entry from Sept. 24 reads, “The Princess of Wales, Joint Patron, the Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, this morning held a meeting at Windsor Castle.”
The Court Circular is a daily log of engagements of members of the royal family. The Princess of Wales, 42, reportedly convened the meeting to talk about her annual Christmas carol concert, typically held at Westminster Abbey in early December.
This meeting marks Kate’s second official engagement since announcing the completion of her chemotherapy in a video message on Sept. 9. At that time, she hinted at the possibility of hosting a concert, and now it seems those plans are moving forward.
The Sept. 24 meeting follows another meeting at Windsor Castle on Sept. 17, when she spoke with members of her Centre for Early Years organization and palace staff.
The project examines “how experiences in early childhood are often the root cause of today’s hardest social challenges such as addiction, family breakdown, poor mental health, suicide and homelessness,” per the Royal Family’s official site.
Kate made two public appearances in 2024, the first at Trooping the Colour in mid-June and then Wimbledon on July 14.
Currently, the only event Kate is “potentially” expected to attend is a Remembrance Sunday service in support of the royal family, veterans and their families on Nov. 10, with the carol concert due to take place the following month.
Kate was last seen in public — though not in an official capacity — on Sept. 22, spotted with husband Prince William driving to church at Crathie Kirk near Balmoral Castle. Kate flashed a brief smile as she sat in the passenger seat of a car beside William, 42, who was driving the vehicle.
The appearance marked the first time she had been seen in public since the Sept. 9 video message.
The three-minute clip announcing Kate completed her chemotherapy treatment was filmed at her family's country house, Anmer Hall. Kate, William and their children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, were all seen in the clip.
"As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment," she said. "The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown."
"The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you," Kate said in part. "With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything."
