It seems Kate Middleton and Prince William's recent trip to Scotland wasn't all business, but also doubled as a romantic getaway without their kids. On Sunday, Middleton attended a church service at Crathie Kirk Church—her first public outing since completing chemotherapy—alongside her husband Prince William, King Charles, and Queen Camilla.

According to a source, the absence of their three kids (Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte) allowed the couple to enjoy a weekend rendezvous at Balmoral. An insider told the Daily Mail that William and Kate "treated themselves to a weekend away in Scotland without their children."

The husband-and-wife duo "spent a few days at Balmoral, the monarch’s private Highland estate," the source added.

William and Kate's travels come shortly after Middleton announced she had finished her chemotherapy treatment earlier this month. On September 9, the princess shared a video with the exciting update. "As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment," Middleton said in the clip, which featured sweet snippers of the family. Middleton and William showed off their affection for one another in rare PDA moments throughout the video.

"The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you," Kate continued in the voiceover. "With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything."

"This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted," she said. "Of simply loving and being loved."

While Middleton was undergoing treatment for her diagnosis, a source told Us Weekly that the difficult time had made her and William "closer than ever." “The announcement that the royals won’t be able to work as much has been unexpected, but it will allow Kate and William to spend more time together,” the insider said. “They’ve been reconnecting and are closer than ever.”
