Kate Middleton reeling from Prince Harry's 'betrayal': 'Hurt'

The royal family are reeling from the bombshells dropped in Netflix’s docuseries Harry & Meghan, with Kate Middleton reportedly upset by Prince Harry’s ‘betrayal’. While Prince William and Kate haven’t watched the hit TV show, they have been ‘briefed’ on the contents by palace aides, according to Page Six.

In one of the episodes, Meghan Markle claimed that William and Kate were ‘formal behind closed doors’, and highlighted the difference between American and British culture.

“Kate feels hurt and betrayed that Harry would do this to her...especially as the pair used to be so close,” a source told Us Weekly.

William is also said to be ‘disappointed’ by Harry’s behaviour, but at this stage has no plans to ‘retaliate’ or tell his side of the story.

“He’s remaining dignified and is getting on with his job,” an insider told the publication. “He’s disappointed with Harry for portraying him and the family in a cynical light.

“William was hoping they could move on after the CBS interview [with Oprah in March 2021] but Harry airing his dirty laundry has only heightened the conflict between the two brothers and resulted in them taking a step backwards.”

In the second volume of the docuseries, Harry spoke openly about his disappointment when an unauthorised joint statement “squashed” his rumoured feud with William.

“No one had asked me permission to put my name to a statement like that,” he claimed. Harry told producers that when he called Meghan to tell her about the false statement, she “burst into floods of tears”.

“They were happy to lie to protect my brother, and yet for three years, they were never willing to tell the truth to protect us.”

Meghan’s scathing attack

In the Netflix documentary, the Duchess of Sussex also made the brutal claim stories were planted about her to take the negative spotlight off others in the royal family.

British privacy lawyer Jenny Afia claimed there was a "war against Meghan".

"I've certainly seen evidence that there was negative briefing from the palace against Harry and Meghan to suit other people's agendas," she said.

Meghan's friend Lucy Fraser also suggested Meghan was a "scapegoat" for the palace.

They would feed stories on her whether they were true or not to avoid other less favourable stories being printed," she said.

Meghan launched her own attack, suggesting she was used to take the heat off other royal family members being portrayed in a negative light in the media.
