Now it’s claimed that the TV veteran is coming back for a short stint in exchange for a much bigger slice of the pie.

“Karl has done a deal to go back to the Today show next year for three months,” the source told the magazine.

“His payoff will be a late-night prime-time news show to anchor.”

The news comes after Karl and wife Jasmine were spotted at the Logies in fine form, and if reports are confirmed it will become clear why the axed host was all smiles on the night.

It will be a a change of pace for the TV star, as he gears up for the second season of This Time Next Year to air, a project the early-morning larrikin initially hosted back in 2017.

The long-form show tracks Aussies with monumental hurdles to overcome to achieve their goals over an entire year.

The latest promos show the emotional side of the host coming out, in the latest trailer, Karl can be seen tearing up as the guests share their inspirational stories.

Picking up speed again with a late-night gig will be an adjustment for Karl, who hosted Today for over 13 years, but a return to the fast-paced world of live TV.

The news comes after Karl and ex-wife Cassandra Thorburn put their $8 million ‘dream home’ turned divorce nightmare, on the market.
