Just Cavalli’s Daniele Lombardo Keeps His Eyes on Gen-Zers for Fall 2025

Since taking over Just Cavalli’s creative direction, Daniele Lombardo has made it clear that his goal was to attract a new generation of customers to the bold brand with an eccentric clash of streetwear, sportswear and glam. If so far he hasn’t given any geographical indication of the target audience, his fall 2025 collection stemmed from his 10 years of living in the U.S. and from an exploration of how American Gen-Zers might differ from Italian ones.

He saw in the former a different, more determined approach to their dreams and more chances to actually succeed, citing the country as the land of opportunity. Lombardo drew parallels with the experiences of young migrants of the past, who with their hard work built up the country as we now know it.

All this thinking translated into a collection that reprised the house’s codes with grit and a rawer energy. Although animal prints are the bread-and-butter of the brand and profusely ran under many guises through this lineup as well, there were other elements worthy of the spotlight.

For one, leather pieces such as motorbike jackets and baggy pants injected a more elevated appeal to the collection, even with their lived-in effect, which nodded to the hard-working and rebellious muses that inspired Lombardo this season.

Adding to the narrative, a rusty stain-evoking print introduced a refreshing alternative to Just Cavalli’s exotic world when splashed on cotton bull separates, velvet dresses and oversized knits, many of which came with 3D flocked effects to amplify their worn-out look.

Given the reference to American workwear, integrating denim was a top priority for Lombardo, who focused on experimenting with heavy treatments and distressed effects in sync with the overall vibe. Other takes ranged from denim items embellished with Western appliqués or dazzling separates covered in crystal patterns recreating the brand’s signature animalier motifs. Despite all their sparkle, these still made for a more credible option for Gen-Zers seeking nighttime attire than Lombardo’s seductive body-hugging gowns.
