And Just Like That Boss Reveals Who’s New (and Who’s Out) in Season 3

Carrie Bradshaw is going to have to add a few new contacts to her phone in Season 3 of And Just Like That.

Max’s Sex and the City continuation is set to return with new episodes later this year — and “new” is the operative word, according to showrunner Michael Patrick King, who tells EW.com: “The phrase that I would use for Season 3 is ‘new’… It’s new everything.”

That includes some new cast additions, including Broadway legend Patti LuPone (fresh off her acclaimed turn on Agatha All Along) and comedy veteran Kristen Schaal (What We Do in the Shadows), King reveals. Rosie O’Donnell revealed back in May she was joining the Season 3 cast as well, along with Mehcad Brooks (Law & Order), Cheri Oteri (SNL), Jonathan Cake (The Affair) and Logan Marshall-Green (Upgrade).

King also promises “lots of new loves” and “new obstacles for old loves” in Season 3, with Sebastiano Pigazzi (aka Anthony’s boyfriend Giuseppe) and Dolly Wells (aka BBC producer Joy) getting promoted to series regulars. If you remember, Miranda had a significant interaction with Joy last season — could this be the start of a new romance? “Dating at 50 is an interesting thing,” King notes. “It is kind of a maze of how you move through the world at this point in your life.”

But with all these additions come some subtractions: As was previously reported, cast members Sara Ramírez (Che Diaz) and Karen Pittman (Nya Wallace) won’t return in Season 3. “We just moved forward because that’s what happens in New York City or in life. Sometimes you see someone who is so important to you and then you don’t see them again for 10 years,” King says, adding that Che and Nya are “still on the same island, but you don’t see them.”
