Below, WWD highlights some of the most dramatic red carpet ensembles from the 2025 Golden Globes.
Melissa McCarthy
Melissa McCarthy brought bold elegance to the red carpet in a monochromatic pink ensemble from Christian Siriano that combined a form-fitting jumpsuit with a voluminous ruffled cape. The cape, which billowed dramatically as she posed, added theatrical flair to the structured silhouette, making for a standout moment.
Ali Wong
Ali Wong, who won for Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy or Television for her special “Ali Wong: Single Lady,” opted for a striking Balenciaga couture look. She wore a red bustier dress adorned with cascading ruffles from the neckline to the hem, interrupted only by a delicate satin bow tied at the waist. Wong accessorized with shoulder-grazing black opera gloves, completing the polished ensemble.
Janelle James
Janelle James turned heads in a custom Christian Siriano gown made of black velvet. The design featured an extra-long train that added an air of drama, while matching velvet opera gloves and diamond bracelets on each arm elevated the look with subtle sparkle, transforming its simplicity into a commanding presence.
Cynthia Erivo
Cynthia Erivo, nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for her role in “Wicked,” chose a modern and architectural Louis Vuitton creation. Her sparkling black-and-white dress featured an angular short skirt layered over a longer silhouette, blending structured design elements with a touch of glamour. To add to the drama she painted her signature long nails in a green and pink palette nodding to the hit musical.
Kerry Washington
Kerry Washington made an entrance in a ruched hot pink gown by Balenciaga’s creative director Demna Gvasalia. The design’s long train was paired with sleek black opera gloves, creating a striking contrast between the gown’s vibrant color and its timeless, classic accessories.
Alexandra Daddario
Alexandra Daddario opted for understated sophistication in a form-fitting black gown featuring subtle glitter accents. The drama in her look came from the feather-lined neckline that swept across one shoulder, adding a touch of softness to the minimalist design.
The 2025 Golden Globes ceremony celebrates over eight decades of honoring entertainment excellence. Broadcast on CBS and hosted by Nikki Glaser, this year’s event featured 27 categories, including drama, comedy and limited series.
