Joseph Quinn is giving more tidbits to Marvel fans about The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

On the heels of the movie's teaser-trailer release, the 31-year-old actor spoke at MegaCon Orlando in Florida, about his role as Johnny Storm/Human Torch and about what fans can except from the movie.

Asked what his first thought was when he first put Johnny's superhero costume on, Quinn jokingly said during a panel on Sunday, Feb. 9, that “I’ve got to do some sit-ups!”

He then said he had "been training a lot" for the role, which made it "reassuring" to wear the suit — as did "seeing everyone else" in the cast "in their Lycra." The Fantastic Four: First Steps also stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing.

Quinn added that he was "shocked" to have the opportunity to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, raving about how it feels to be part of something "that brings so much joy" to so many people.

Marvel Studios exec Kevin Feige previously teased what fans can expect from the film at San Diego Comic-Con in 2022, noting that The Fantastic Four: First Steps would not focus on how the group got their powers, as previous film iterations have.

“A lot of people know this origin story. A lot of people know the basics. How do we take that and bring something that they’ve never seen before?” he said at the time. “We’ve set a very high bar for ourselves [by] bringing that to the screen.”

Adding to the variation is the setting for the new movie: a 1960s style, which is a contrast from recent Fantastic Four films set in modern times. The film’s director, Matt Shakman, said the superhero quartet will be saving lives in a throwback aesthetic.

"We're not just doing the ’60s, we're doing retro-future ’60s," he explained. "It's part what you know from the ’60s, but part what you’ve never seen before."

Speaking with PEOPLE in June 2024, Quinn said he hadn't spoken with Chris Evans or Michael B. Jordan, who have played Johnny Storm on the big screen in previous iterations.

However, he realizes Evans, 43, and Jordan, 38, have given him "big boots to fill, twice."

"They're both brilliant actors and did the amazing job with their interpretation of Johnny," Quinn said at the time. "So I think it's a question of trying to find something ... well, not different. It's going to come from me, I guess."

Added the Stranger Things alum, "I've definitely been inspired by their portrayals, so we'll see how it goes."
