John Lennon's Son Sean Offers Up Bold Declaration About Taylor Swift
Sean Ono Lennon is giving his unfiltered opinion on Taylor Swift.
Lennon, the youngest son of The Beatles' John Lennon and wife Yoko Ono, decided to give his two cents on the "Anti-Hero" songstress this week, just days after Donald Trump voiced his hatred for Swift, 34.
After the Republican presidential nominee declared, "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT," in a social media post on Sunday, Sept. 15, Lennon, 48, shared his own message on X (formerly Twitter) the same day to insist, "Hating on Taylor Swift is not a good look."
While Lennon admitted that he has "never been a fan" of Swift's music, he acknowledged that the 14-time Grammy winner is a "uniquely successful American."
"A young woman who has done things in a way that no one has done before her," he stated.
Going on to praise the "Karma" songstress, Lennon said, "She is the kind of American that should be respected and in fact treasured. We need more not less Taylor Swifts in our world. People who thrive continually and consistently are exactly the kind of person both parties should embrace."
Earlier this month, Swift made headlines for speaking out about the upcoming election, revealing that she will be casting her vote for Democratic nominee Kamala Harris and her running-mate Tim Walz. Swift's endorsement of his opponent is presumably the reason behind Trump's ire toward the singer, which Lennon believes is not only misplaced, but also "bad optics."
"For some old grumpy dude to get angry at her, no that’s not a good look," he doubled down in his tweets this week.
Despite standing up for Swift during the recent social media rant, Lennon did however have one piece of criticism for her music.
Speaking about Swift's song "Bad Blood," Lennon said, "I remember she rhymed mad love with bad blood and that kind of made me uncomfortable."
Still, he insisted in the follow-up tweet, "This is only to say that it was not true I don’t know any songs. I know that one."
"I have nothing against her," he further clarified. "I have a lot of respect for what she has accomplished. I certainly could never do what she does.
