Joan Vassos Takes Off on High-Flying Dates in 'Golden Bachelorette' Premiere (Exclusive)
America’s first Golden Bachelorette Joan Vassos is truly young at heart—and her first dates really show it!
The 61-year-old from Rockville, Maryland, will start her journey to finding late-in-life love when the parade of limos rolls up to the iconic Bachelor Mansion on Wednesday, Sept. 18.
We'll have to wait to see her 24 sexy suitors make their grand entrances, but Parade has an exclusive sneak peek video trailer showing the connections Joan makes later in the premiere.
Her first dates include lively outings where she's seen hitting the dance floor, kissing atop a building and jet setting.
Private school administrator Joan became the first older woman to look for love after appearing on Gerry Turner’s ratings hit The Golden Bachelor last fall.
Sadly, contestant Joan left his show early due to her daughter’s postpartum crisis.
But as Parade’s exclusive sneak peek video shows, she’s now the star who shares high-octane dates with a cast of seasoned guys.
The Golden Bachelorette leading lady, who lost her husband John Vassos to pancreatic cancer in 2021 after 32 years of marriage, has four grown children and three grandkids.
Set to Kelly Clarkson’s song “Favorite Kind of Love,” the new trailer teases what viewers can expect between Joan and her men this season.
The opening scene shows Joan getting out of the limo for the first time, with host Jesse Palmer declaring, “You look like someone who’s ready to make history.”
The willowy star replied, “I am!” throwing her arms up in the air.
With Clarkson’s lyrics, “kiss me how you like, I've been waiting for you,” in the background, Joan is seen kissing salon owner Pascal, 69, on top of a building with a spectacular city view.
The video also reveals Joan dancing with Army veteran Mark Anderson, 57, the widowed father of Joey Graziadei’s The Bachelor pick and fiancé Kelsey Anderson.
In a previous preview clip aired during the finale of Jenn Tran’s The Bachelorette, Kelsey introduces her dad to Joan’s show.
The new video shows Joan telling cameras, “I am ready to find the next great love of my life.”
She also kisses another man as she holds a wine glass and says in confessional, “Life is better when you share it with somebody else. Everybody deserves to have love in their life. I deserve it, too.”
As is typical for the franchise, athletic contests will unfold as well.
Private investor Dan, 64, runs to first base in a baseball game during the clip. Retired financial analyst Charles L., 66, is hoisted up in the air after competing.
Joan embraces an unknown man by a flashy red convertible next to a private plane, which may not gibe with Joan's vision of love.
In a previous video, Joan said she’s looking for a man “with a big heart,” who's generous and humble.
The new 30-second promo shows the plane jetting away, and then Joan hugging another senior hunk while exploring the outdoors.
Joan looks thrilled to be on a flight with sales director Keith G., 62.
“I truly believe that I could find love,” she told cameras as the clip ends.
The Golden Bachelorette premieres Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and will air weekly on Wednesdays for the remainder of the season. You can stream it the next day on Hulu.
