Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Have Settled Their Divorce
The settlement comes four months after Lopez filed to end their marriage.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's marriage is getting close to officially being over. Four months after Lopez filed for divorce on their second wedding anniversary, the court has settled the divorce proceedings for the former couple, and their relationship will be formally dissolved by February.
TMZ reported the details of the settlement and noted that Lopez and Affleck will "each walk away with what they individually acquired during the marriage. The money Ben earned from his various movie projects is his, and the same goes for what J.Lo earned during their 2-year marriage," with neither party being required to "pay spousal support to the other."
The outlet confirmed that "Ben will keep his stake in his hugely successful production company, Artists Equity," and that he and Lopez have reached an agreement on their $61 million home in Los Angeles, though it has yet to be sold. The divorce settlement comes quickly, in light of the former couple not signing a prenuptial agreement with each other.
Lopez filed for divorce on August 20, with a People source revealing that she chose that date because "she was done waiting and the date she did it speaks a ton." She didn't want Affleck to be the one to file for divorce, because it "gives her control of the process," the source added at the time.
A source also previously told Entertainment Tonight in early August that they were "waiting to announce their official split, because they want to make sure everything is seamless when they do, especially with everyone involved. Neither of them want this process to be rushed. They are treating the separation with as much grace, understanding, and gentleness as they can."
