Jenna Bush Hager Offers Insight Into Search for ‘Today’ Co-Host — and If Travis Kelce Was Ever in the Running (Exclusive)
Jenna Bush Hager has been on the search for her new co-host ever since Hoda Kotb departed the talk show earlier this year. While fans are having a ball making their top pick known, Parade caught up with Bush Hager to hear her take on it all — including whether or not Travis Kelce could make a cameo.
Earlier this week, the Today personality and her twin sister, Barbara Pierce Bush, discussed their new children's book, I Loved You First. This latest release is the pair's third installment and features a special nod to both their parents and their children.
Apart from promoting the new book, which is out now, Bush Hager gave Parade all the details on the over-the-top, exciting experience of the search for her new co-host.
Bush Hager explained it's been such a pleasure working with all the stars, but two really stood out to her: Scarlett Johansson and Dwyane Wade. And after name-dropping her favorite temporary colleagues, she said there's only one person left on her list of dream co-hosts.
When asked if she could invite anyone on the show knowing they'd say yes to being her counterpart, Bush Hager picked Oprah Winfrey. (Barbara picked Celine Dion, inspiring Bush Hager to pitch an "icons week" of hosts).
Knowing Bush Hager worked with Donna Kelce on a Hallmark movie last summer and given the Kansas City Chiefs tight end's desire to score more on-screen work, we just had to ask the Today star if the three-time Super Bowl champ was ever in the running for the show.
"Not that I know of," she said, clarifying that she's "not in the know on every single person [that's been invited].
"But that'd be a good one, Travis Kelce," she said, before teasing what's in store for the future. "We have some really cool [guest hosts] coming up. I can't say who, but we are booked through the spring, and we have some really fun ones."
"Some unexpected ones, too," she added.
