"My heart aches as I write this," Abanuelos began. "I’m still in shock and disbelief. How can you be gone??? I will feel your presence in every crashing wave, every salty breeze, and every shimmering reflection of the sun on the ocean’s surface. You were my best friend, my wifey, my kindred spirit. The most gorgeous mermaid in human form. Forever drawn to the sea."

She continued, "Malibu was your paradise, where your soul danced with the tides and your laughter blended with the sound of the waves. You had a heart as vast as the ocean, a spirit as free as the wind, and a love that ran deeper than the blue depths you adored."

Abanuelos also made reference to Cindyana's husband of 24 years, Frank Santangelo, and their sons Dante and Lucci, noting that the family members were her "reason for living."

She concluded, "Though you are no longer here in the way I wish you could be, I know you’re swimming in eternal waters, watching over us with that radiant smile. Every seashell I find, every wave that kisses the shore, will be a reminder that your love is still all around me… Until we meet again. I love you my Wifey for Lifey . My Beautiful Soul Seaster."

The loss was also mourned by Samantha Bennington, wife of the late Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington, who wrote that she was "beyond devastated" by the news of Santangelo's death.

"I can’t believe you were taken from us too damn soon," she wrote. "This is a huge loss for so many and our community lost an incredible woman, mom, friend, philanthropist, artist. You wrapped your arms around me and accepted me and loved on me as a friend the very first moment you met me I’ll never forget you for welcoming me into your tribe."

Born Cindy Lehrer in 1967 in New York City, Santangelo was raised in Los Angeles, where she began her career as a dancer, appearing in various music videos throughout the '80s and '90s, including Young MC’s “Bust a Move.” She also provided the Spanish introduction to "Stop," the Jane's Addiction track that led frontman Perry Farrell to describe her as “the Latin Marilyn Monroe.”

Cindyana went on to appear on Married… With Children as dancer Sierra Madre, before making brief appearances on ER, and CSI: Miami. She also had a role in Hollywood Homicide, the 2003 comedy starring Harrison Ford and Josh Hartnett.
