Inside Harry and Meghan's $60K babymoon

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are due to welcome their first child any week now, and before the sleepless nights begin, the royal couple escaped the spotlight for a luxurious four-day babymoon.

But where did the newlyweds hide from the paps?

According to multiple reports, the newlyweds enjoyed some alone time at Heckfield Place in Hook, Hampshire – an ideal getaway for the Windsor-based couple.

The five-star hotel also proved a perfect hiding spot, as it sits in 400-acres of wild countryside and impressive gardens.

Owned by Hong Kong-born billionaire Gerald Chan, Heckfield Place is a Georgian family mansion which has been lovingly restored to include a plethora of 45 luxury suites, two lakes and even its own arboretum – a botanical garden to you and me.

If that doesn’t supply guests with enough social media opportunities, then there’s even an organic farm on site which boasts more than 400 fruit trees in its orchard.

But it’s not for the faint-hearted, as room prices kick-start at £350 per night.

What did they do on their babymoon?

The 18th century stately home offers guests the chance to relax in a luxury spa with two in-house restaurants run by Michelin-starred restaurateur, Skye Gyngell.

Self-confessed yoga fanatic Meghan is sure to have taken advantage of the Bodyism fitness studio which offers a range of classes. While the Little Bothy Spa is sure to have proven tempting for the expectant mum.

According to the website, the health and wellbeing spot offers guests freshly-made juices and infusions using ingredients plucked from the estate’s apothecary garden.

While the spa menu offers everything from botanical-inspired facials to massages using ethically-sourced ingredients – a must for eco-conscious Meghan.

But according to reports, the royal couple eschewed extravagance in favour of long woodland walks and meals from the comfort of their apartment.

A royal source told The Sun: “They wanted total rest and relaxation and Meghan was really attracted to the organic ethos of the hotel which produces much of its own food on an on-site farm.”

“It was very chilled,” they continued. “They went for walks in their wellies, Meghan sat on a love-swing hung from a tree and they ate delicious food.”

Yahoo UK reached out to Heckfield Place for further information but the hotel declined to comment.

So how much did it all cost?

Due to their regal status, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex opted for the most expensive ‘Long Room’ which weighs in at AU$18,000 (£10,000) a night courtesy of its own dining room and private terraces.

According to the hotel website, guests can enjoy “breakfast on a private terrace at sunrise, an afternoon with a good book curled up in a window seat” and “supper with friends as the log fire crackles”.

Yahoo UK reached out to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s press team for further information but they declined to comment on the couple’s rumoured stay.

Other famous faces at Heckfield Place

Proving she’s not forgotten her former Hollywood life, the Duchess of Sussex chose a spot favoured by the A-list set.

Quite the celebrity bolthole, model sisters Cara and Poppy Delevingne famously stayed at the estate for Princess Eugenie’s royal nuptials in October 2018.

Actress Liv Tyler joined them and shared a photograph of the celebrity guests crashed out in one of the suites post-wedding.

According to reports, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently left their Kensington Palace abode and moved into Frogmore House.

The Windsor residence was first built back in 1792 for Queen Charlotte and the couple have reportedly spent AU$5.5 million on renovating the property.

The royal mother-to-be is expected to give birth soon although it is widely rumoured that the former actress will not make the traditional Lindo Wing exit.

Kensington Palace has yet to comment on the speculation.
