Is this Australia's answer to the Lindo Wing?

No matter where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s highly-anticipated royal baby is born, it will no doubt be in the height of luxury.

But for equally-rich Aussie bubs-to-be, there is another birthing option Down Under which might actually give the Lindo Wing a run for its money.

The aptly-named Prince of Wales Private Hospital in Sydney’s leafy eastern suburbs provides patients with literal five-star facilities by basing their postnatal stay at the Crowne Plaza at Coogee Beach.

Instead of braving piles of laundry and a stream of potentially-unwanted visitors, new families can unwind and bond in a lap of luxury aided by room service, ocean views and on-site medical care.

Situated just metres from Coogee’s famed sandy shores, the Plaza’s Little Luxuries program offers mums and bubs the chance to recover in their own opulent enclave.

Every room is decked out with floor-to-wall windows with ocean views, a king-sized bed, feeding chair and a ‘colossal’ television.

Also on the menu are massages, a mini-bar, customised room service and 24-hour access to an in-house midwife.

According to one guest who detailed her experience in a blog post, the stay is best suited to second or third-time mums who want to be ‘left to their own devices’ with their newest arrival.

She also described how the Crowne Plaza was a ‘foodie heaven’ and offered ‘sirloin steaks and gorgeous salads, and fresh pastries and fruit.’

“The food in itself is reason enough to be begging to get to the hotel!” she said.

However, for those lucky enough to experience these Little Luxuries, the splendour can start even before their baby is born.

The Prince of Wales itself boasts facilities fit for a duchess including customised menus, private rooms en-suite rooms, Foxtel, house-keeping and a fully-stocked mini-fridge.

While typical Plaza guests could face a bill upwards of $1,000 a night, Little Luxuries is actually covered by most private health funds, however newborns and their parents must be specially selected for the program by being deemed low-risk.

Meanwhile, prices at the Lindo Wing in London start at $11,000AUD per night which can skyrocket to $15,000AUD for its even more deluxe options.

For this, mums can have access to the hospital’s Champagne list, in-room massages and a catered gourmet menu – in addition of course to its top-notch medical care.

And most importantly, the bragging rights of your birth being quite literally fit for a king.
