Hugh Sheridan drops bombshell about Rebel Wilson's new relationship

Hollywood star Rebel Wilson has announced she’s part of the LGBTQI+ community by sharing she’s in a new relationship with a woman, Ramona Agruma.

While she had mentioned in previous interviews that she met her girlfriend through a friend, it was unknown who that friend was. On Friday morning, Packed to the Rafters star Hugh Sheridan spilled the beans and revealed that he was the one who introduced the two women.

Speaking on 2Day FM’s The Morning Crew — Hughesy, Ed & Erin, the actor admitted he had been trying to set Rebel and Ramona up with other people for years.

“I’m a bit of a matchmaker in my spare time, I’ve got a few marriages in there,” he boasted.

“Rebel was a really hard one, and Ramona was too. I was in New York after meeting up with my ex and I was feeling very sad. And Rebel was like, 'Oh you know what, I can’t imagine how sad you feel because I’ve never really been in love before’, and I was like, ‘Gosh, she’s a hard one to crack.’ And then I just had this thought… Well maybe I’m looking in the wrong spot,” he explained.

“For a woman that’s that successful, it takes a very strong man to stay with them and behave and not get jealous, but I thought — a woman that’s successful, they would just lift each other up maybe. And I thought of Ramona straight away.”

“They spoke for a week or so, and then Rebel actually came back to meet her. And they’ve been together ever since.”

He joked that he was the couple’s “beard” for a while, travelling to Disneyland, Mexico and other places with the women. Hugh also believes that for Rebel to come out publicly and talk about her girlfriend means that the star is serious about her new love.

Rebel finds her 'Disney Princess'

This comes after Rebel made her new relationship Instagram official, writing, “I thought I was searching for a Disney Prince…but maybe what I really needed all this time was a Disney Princess. Love is love,” alongside a photo of the new couple.

Her new squeeze Ramona is a fashion designer in Los Angeles, with her own clothing line Lemon Ve Limon. The clothing brand is ‘sustainable’ and makes pieces that combine ‘comfort and style.’

The Pitch Perfect star has actually been taking Ramona to big events this year as her plus one and has even regularly posted photos of her new girlfriend on Instagram. Nobody batted an eyelid as it was assumed the pair were just friends, but it’s clear the actress is smitten.

The couple made their public debut in March when the loved-up women attended the Vanity Fair Oscars party. Rebel also took Ramona on a long-weekend trip to Utah, where the star supported the charity Operation Smile which helps children around the world.

Rebel chose to keep her new squeeze secret earlier this year, but couldn’t help but gush over her “very romantic” relationship in May.

“I think going through the process of finding more self-worth, I think that what you want in a partner is elevated, so it’s great to have someone who feels like an equal partner and be in a healthy relationship,” she told People.

“There were times — I’m not saying with all my exes, they’re great — but there were some times that I was probably putting up with that I shouldn’t have. So it feels different to be in a really healthy relationship.”
