House of the Dragon Season 3 Casts James Norton as Ormund Hightower

House of the Dragon has found its Ormund Hightower. Happy Valley star James Norton is joining the third season of the HBO series as Ormund, our sister site Variety reports.

The character was referenced in Season 2 but has not yet appeared on screen. Ormund is Otto’s nephew, Alicent and Gwayne’s cousin, and the Lord of Oldtown. “He is presently leading the Hightower host in a march on King’s Landing to support his house against Rhaenyra,” according to HBO’s official character description.

House of the Dragon‘s third season has no official release date yet, though production is expected to begin in early 2025. The show will end with Season 4, according to showrunner Ryan Condal, but HBO has not made an official announcement.

Alongside Norton, House of the Dragon Season 3 will star Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Rhys Ifans, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall and Matthew Needham.

Norton is best known for his roles in the British series Happy Valley, Grantchester, McMafia, and the HBO drama The Nevers.
