How to Watch the Oscars 2025 Best Picture Nominees (Including Which Ones Are Available to Stream!)
The 2025 Oscar nominations were announced on Jan. 23, with 'Emilia Pérez,' 'Wicked' and 'The Brutalist' taking the lead
The Academy Awards announced this year's eagerly awaited nominations on Jan. 23 — leaving viewers a little over a month to catch up on any movies they have yet to see.
After the Oscar nominations were delayed by a week following the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles, Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang presented this year's list live at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater and, like previous years, it featured some fan-favorite stars — and some shocking snubs.
Netflix's Emilia Pérez racked up 13 nods, making it the most nominated non-English language film in Oscar history. Wicked and The Brutalist both earned 10 nominations, while Conclave and A Complete Unknown got eight.
Some surprising snubs included Nicole Kidman and Angelina Jolie being passed over for their leading roles in Babygirl and Maria, respectively, as well as Selena Gomez in the supporting actress category for Emilia Pérez.
However, before the Oscars roll around on March 2 — where it will air live from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood at 7 p.m. ET on ABC and Hulu — you might want to catch up on all the lauded movies being celebrated at this year's ceremony.
While many are still in theaters, the typical window for a movie to be available on demand can be as little as 45 days, per Business Insider, meaning all 10 nominees — with the possible exception of I'm Still Here due to its Feb. 14 wide release — should be available by the show date.
So sit back, grab a bag of popcorn and start streaming. Here's where to watch all of the 2025 Oscars Best Picture nominated movies.
Anora
The Sean Baker-directed film earned six Academy Award nominations, including a Best Actress nod for newcomer Mikey Madison. Anora follows Ani, a young sex worker, and her relationship with Igor (Mark Eydelshteyn), the impulsive, drug-addled son of a Russian oligarch.
Anora released in theaters in October 2024, but is not yet available for streaming. However, it can be purchased on Prime Video or Apple TV.
The Brutalist
Adrien Brody earned his second Best Actor nomination for his portrayal of Laszlo Toth, a Hungarian-born Jewish immigrant who comes to the U.S. after surviving the Holocaust and World War II, in The Brutalist.
The movie is still playing in theaters, including on the rare 70 mm screen which it was specially shot for.
A Complete Unknown
A Complete Unknown follows an early period in singer Bob Dylan's life in which he chose to stray from the folk music genre he started his career in. The movie cinched eight Oscar nominations, including a nod for Timothée Chalamet, making him the youngest two-time Best Actor nominee since James Dean.
A Complete Unknown is still playing in select theaters nationwide, but is not yet available for streaming or digital purchase. Since the film is distributed by Disney’s Searchlight Pictures, it's expected to land on Hulu at some point in the future.
Conclave
Priests from across the world gather in the Vatican City to pick the next pope as a game of politics and a shocking reveal unfolds in Conclave. Ralph Fiennes, who is nominated for Best Actor, plays a soft-spoken, concerned priest opposite a very vocal Stanley Tucci in the eight-time nominated movie.
Conclave was released in theaters in October 2024 and is now available to stream on Peacock.
Dune: Part Two
Chalamet was in not one but two Oscar-nominated movies this year, including Dune: Part Two. Directed by Dennis Villeneuve, the film earned five nods, including production design, sound, cinematography and visual effects.
The fantasy movie — a sequel to 2021's Dune — was released in theaters in March 2024. It is now available to stream on Netflix and Max, as well as Hulu and Prime Video with a premium subscription.
Emilia Pérez
Emilia Pérez took home the most nominations with a whopping 13, including a Best Actress nod for lead Karla Sofía Gascón and a Best Supporting Actress nod for Zoe Saldaña. The former made Oscar history as the first openly trans woman to ever be nominated at the awards show.
The musical, directed by Jacques Audiard, is a Netflix original that is exclusively available to stream on the platform.
I’m Still Here
Based on Marcelo Rubens Paiva's biographical book, I'm Still Here tells the true story of a hidden part of Brazil's history. The movie was also nominated in the Best International Feature category and the Best Actress category for Fernanda Torres, who took home the Golden Globe for best dramatic movie actress.
I'm Still Here is playing in select theaters nationwide and is coming soon to Apple TV, though a date has not yet been set.
Nickel Boys
Adapted from the 2019 novel of the same name by Colson Whitehead, Nickel Boys is based on the historic Dozier School, an institution that operated for 111 years in Florida and was later discovered to be highly abusive. The movie also earned a nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
The movie is still playing in theaters, and will eventually be available to stream on Prime Video since it is produced by Amazon MGM Studios.
The Substance
One of the most popular fan-favorites of 2024, The Substance is a horror comedy starring Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley. The former received her first-ever Academy Award nomination for Best Actress after her emotional Golden Globe win weeks earlier.
The Substance is now available to stream on Mubi and Prime Video with a premium subscription, and is available for purchase on Apple TV.
Wicked
Wicked took over the end of 2024, showering the internet in memes, endless green and pink and a popular (pun-intended) press tour. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande respectively star as Elphaba and Glinda, two unlikely friends who discover all is not as it seems in Oz.
Both actresses were nominated, marking Grande's first Oscars nod. "i cannot stop crying, to no one’s surprise," the singer wrote on Instagram, thanking the Academy for the honor.
Wicked is available for purchase on Prime Video and Apple TV.
