After People Said Pamela Anderson Was "Snubbed" By The Oscars For "The Last Showgirl," Here's How She Responded
The 2025 Oscar nominations are out, and there were many surprises and upsets.
Many people were shocked when Pamela Anderson wasn't nominated for Best Actress for The Last Showgirl.
Pamela portrayed Shelly Gardner, a middle-aged Las Vegas showgirl who discovers the revue she performed in for three decades is closing. The film is based on the unproduced play Body of Work by Kate Gersten, who adapted the screenplay.
She was nominated at the 82nd Golden Globes for Best Actress in a Motion Picture — Drama and the 31st Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role.
The news of Pamela's Oscar "snub" didn't sit well with fans on the internet. People were also upset with Hard Truths' Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Babygirl's Nicole Kidman, and Maria's Angelina Jolie not being included in the nominations.

While the snubs hit fans pretty hard, Pamela humbly responded to the news. Speaking with Martha Stewart for Elle, Pamela appreciated her involvement in the movie.
"No, no nomination for the Oscar, but I couldn't even imagine that," she said.
"I did get a SAG nomination, which is really exciting and…all of this is just unexpected and exciting," she added. "I always say the win is in the work. I got to do something I really love, and I needed to do that for my soul."
Speaking about working with Gia for The Last Showgirl, Pamela said, "She's such a great actor's director. She's very soft-spoken, but very decisive. This was her singular vision. There were so many women on this set, our DP, the girl carrying the boom. This really was a film about women created by women, written by a woman."
Her costar, Jamie Lee Curtis, who earned a SAG and BAFTA nomination for her supporting role, didn't land an Oscar nomination as well, but Pamela had nothing but praise for her in the interview.
"She's so much fun. Such a champion for women, too," Pamela shared. "She took me by the shoulders and said, 'I did this movie for you.' I thought, That's a woman's woman. She's been there, she's reinvented herself time and again, and I think she saw that in me — that I wanted to do the same thing — and [she] really supported me, which was incredible. I'm just so happy I got to do this."
Sure, The Last Showgirl didn't secure any Oscar nominations, including Miley Cyrus's Golden Globe-nominated song "Beautiful That Way." But, prospective movie watcher, I implore you, don't let a select few people stop you from seeing a good movie.
The Last Showgirl is brilliant, and in all her humble beauty, Pamela killed it.
