When Project Runway returns, it'll have a very familiar face back on board. Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Heidi Klum is coming back to the fashion reality TV series after an eight-year absence. PEOPLE was first to break the news.

Klum originally hosted Project Runway from its inception in 2004 through 2017. The series focuses on fashion design, with contestants competing to create the best clothes through restrictions on time, materials, and theme. Klum, who bid farewell to cut contestants each week with her signature German sign-off "auf wiedersehen," won the 2013 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program, shared with her longtime co-host Tim Gunn.

Klum departed the show at the end of season 16 in 2017, moving with Gunn to the Amazon Prime Video series Making the Cut. Making the Cut has aired three seasons so far, the most recent in 2022. During their absence, Project Runway was hosted by Karlie Kloss and Christian Siriano. Siriano was the winner of season 4 of the show, and remains its most famous alumnus.

Project Runway will also be available to watch on new channels. The show originally aired on Bravo before moving to Lifetime from 2009-2017. After Klum and Gunn departed, the show moved back to Bravo from 2019-2023. Now, it will air on Freeform and stream on Hulu and Disney+.

Project Runway is an iconic television juggernaut that perfectly complements the pop-culture spirit at Freeform,” Hulu/ABC executive Simran Sethi said in a statement back in October. “We are excited to welcome the original series to the Disney family and reignite the fanbase alongside Spyglass and Alfred Street, giving viewers the chance to once again share in discovering the next generation of exceptionally talented fashion designers.”

Judges and premiere date will be announced later. There's also no word yet on whether Gunn, who Klum has called her "TV husband," will also be returning to Project Runway. Representatives for Klum did not immediately respond to EW's request for further comment.

Back in 2020 when Making the Cut premiered, Klum told EW that the show's focus was more international than the New York-based Project Runway had been: "We’re finding the next global brand, so this is no longer a sewing competition." The show filmed in Paris and Tokyo, and featured Naomi Campbell and Nicole Richie as judges.
