When Harry Met Sally Reunion: Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan (and Sydney Sweeney) Star in New Super Bowl Ad

Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan return to Katz’s Deli, in character as Harry Burns and Sally Albright, in Hellmann’s Super Bowl commercial.

The quasi-sequel, which was released more than a week out from the big game, picks up more than 35 years after When Harry Met Sally’s release. Harry says he’s surprised that they were let back in after Sally’s convincing demonstration of a female orgasm, but Sally insists that no one remembers that. She then proceeds to take a bite of her sandwich, but it’s just not doing it for her.

“No good?” Harry asks.

“Nothing!” she responds.

Luckily, there’s a bottle of Hellmann’s mayonnaise on the table. Sally squeezes a healthy serving on to her sandwich, then takes another bite. What follows is a reenactment of that iconic movie climax — only this time, she’s not faking it to prove a point.

Naturally, Sally’s moans capture everyone’s attention. Among her fellow patrons is none other than Anyone But You star Sydney Sweeney, who turns to her waitress and says, “I’ll have what she’s having,” just as film director Rob Reiner’s mother did in the 1989 classic.

“Reuniting with Billy and stepping back into Sally’s shoes was a joy,” Ryan said in a statement. “I’m hoping it’ll be fun for fans to revisit this scene with its (wink, wink) new star, Hellmann’s mayo.”

Added Crystal: “The opportunity to return to Katz’s Deli with Meg was a no brainer. Thanks to Hellmann’s, who came up with the concept and wrote a really funny spot, we’re bringing some laughs and nostalgia and helping When Harry Met Sally celebrate its 35th Anniversary during the Big Game this year.”

Super Bowl LIX, featuring the Kansas City Chiefs vs. the Philadelphia Eagles, will take place on Sunday, Feb. 9 at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30/5:30c. The game will air on Fox, with NFL great Tom Brady serving as analyst alongside play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt.
