Third time's a charm: Meghan and Harry hire 'godsend' new nanny for baby Archie
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reportedly hired a new nanny for their three-month-old baby, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
The new childcarer marks the couple’s third in as many months, and is being touted as a “godsend”.
The unnamed nanny is said to have joined the young family on their recent trip to Ibiza and to holiday at Sir Elton John’s $27 million villa in Nice.
Third time’s a charm
It has been reported that the new parent’s first two nannies left their positions within weeks, with one working nights only.
“Meghan is a very hands-on mum but the new nanny is a godsend,” a source told The Sun.
“She is extremely professional, with a number of nannying years under her belt, and has fitted into the family really well,” they added.
“She’s great with little Archie and just adores him. Harry and Meghan are very happy with her.”
Jet setting
It’s understood that the childcarer does not live with Harry, 34, and Meghan, 38, at their home Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, however she will reportedly join the Sussexes on their royal tour of Africa this spring.
The trip marks their first official overseas visit as a family of three, and it makes sense that they’d want all the help they can get.
Of their process of selecting a carer for their firstborn child, a source previously told The Sun that the pair “do not want to rush this or take any risks getting this decision right.”
Changing of the guard
The new nanny is the latest addition to Harry and Meghan’s team, after the appointment of former top-level diplomat Fiona Mcilwham, 45, as their private secretary.
Fiona replaces the Queen’s former aide, Australian Samantha Cohen, who was filling the role temporarily until a permanent replacement could be found.
The self-described “wannabe supermum” joins the royal couple’s female-led trio that includes communications secretary Sara Latham and deputy private secretary Heather Wong.
It’s said that Fiona’s first major role will be on the upcoming African tour that will take in Angola, Botswana and Malawi.
The royal nannies
When the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first child Prince George was born in July 2013, Prince William’s former nanny Jessie Webb, then 71, came out of retirement to help the family.
They later hired Norland nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo when George was eight months old.
Since then, Kate and William have added to their family with the addition of Princess Charlotte in 2015 and Prince Louis in 2018.
