Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren return in action-packed first look at “1923 ”season 2
The "Yellowstone" spinoff returns Feb. 23 on Paramount+.
Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren are gearing up for a brutal winter in Montana. In first-look images and videos for the second season of Yellowstone prequel series 1923, which premieres on Paramount+ on Feb. 23, Ford and Mirren's Jacob and Cara Dutton are seen protecting their ranch, while their nephew Spencer Dutton (Brandon Sklenar) races back to help them.
"This ranch is under attack. Our way of life is under attack," Ford's Jacob says in one of the teasers.
Cara and Jacob Dutton are ancestors to the modern Dutton family at the center of Yellowstone. Though they have no children of their own, they've raised their nephew Spencer as a son. After his experiences in World War I, Spencer has been hunting big game in Africa, where he met British socialite Alexandra (Julia Schlaepfer).

In season 2, a cruel winter brings new challenges and unfinished business to the Dutton ranch. In the face of these harsh conditions threatening his family home, which has already been enduring economic hardship in the run-up to the Great Depression, Spencer embarks on an arduous journey home, hoping to make it back to Montana in time to save his family.
"I am needed in Montana. My family is in danger," Sklenar's Spencer says in another teaser video.
But he's not the only one going on a cross-country journey. Alexandra (Schlaepfer) sets off on a harrowing trans-Atlantic journey to find Spencer and reclaim their love.

Every episode of 1923 is written by Taylor Sheridan, the same as Yellowstone and his growing library of Paramount shows, which also includes Landman, Special Ops: Lioness, Tulsa King, Mayor of Kingstown, Lawmen: Bass Reeves, and 1883. There's continuity behind the camera as well. Of season 1's eight episodes, all but two were directed by Ben Richardson.
