Hamish Blake finally reveals what he was paid on Celebrity Gogglebox

After weeks of speculation, Hamish Blake has finally revealed how much money he and his wife Zoë Foster Blake were paid for their brief stint on Celebrity Gogglebox.

It was previously reported that the couple had made a whopping $500,000 to appear on the one-off special episode, however, the Lego Masters host has now told The Kyle & Jackie O Show that this figure is not true.

“That blew me away,” Hamish said. “Do you know how much we got paid? $5000. Five, zero, zero, zero. Everyone gets the same thing!”

Jackie, who admitted that she and Sophie Monk were also approached for the gig but turned it down, said that they were also offered $5000.

Hamish went on to add that “there was never any discussion of money at all”, and the opportunity came about because the executive producer David McDonald was his good friend who works on Lego Masters.

“Literally, over lunch at Lego Masters one day he goes, ‘Hey we’re doing a celebrity version of Gogglebox,’ and I was like, ‘Mate we’ll do that, that sounds like great fun’,” he detailed. “We did it because we’re fans of the show.

“And then that [report] came out and I was like, look, no one would believe it, no one cares anyway… Everyone gets the same. I didn’t even think about the money.”

He also revealed that just as he and Zoë have done for years with their TV appearance fees, they donated the money to charity.

“What I have been telling people when they ask, ‘Did you get paid $500,000 for doing Gogglebox?’ I say, look, ‘I don’t really like to discuss money, but I will say, I donated it’. And everyone’s like, ‘Woah, what a legend!’.”

Hamish’s comments come shortly after Gogglebox stars Adam Densten and Symon Lovett told TV Tonight that they didn’t care too much about the celebrities’ paycheques.

“I don’t really mind. I don’t really concern myself with it. It’s kind of like, ‘If they do, they do… If they don’t they don’t’. It is what it is,” Symon said. “Them getting paid doesn’t really affect my life.”

“All of these people have done 10 or 20 years in the media industry,” Adam added. “We’ve literally sat on the couch for 7 or 8 years.”

It’s previously been reported that regular Gogglebox Australia cast members earn a $1200 ‘location fee’ per house for each day of filming.
