Grammys Audience Down 9% From 2024 To 15.4M Viewers On CBS

The 67th Grammy Awards, which was full of historic wins on Sunday night, pulled in a strong audience on CBS but couldn’t quite beat last year.

Music’s Biggest Night generated 15.4M viewers, according to Nielsen data, down nearly 9% from the 2024 show’s years-long high note of 16.9M viewers. Perhaps more important, CBS also says that the show raised $9M for Los Angeles’ wildfire relief efforts.

All things considered, over the past few years, the Grammys have rebounded quite significantly from the hit that it and every other major award show took in the past few years. The 2025 Grammys audience is still one of the best since 2020 and was up 73% from the low of 2022, when fewer than 9M tuned in for the second consecutive year.

While most awards shows have seen somewhat of an audience increase recently, the Grammys seems to be outperforming its counterparts at this point, which is quite noteworthy. The simplest explanation is that, in addition to handing out awards, the Grammys is chock-full of performances from some of the world’s biggest artists — something that the other award shows lack.

The Grammys are inching back slowly toward pre-pandemic levels, though it’s unclear if the show ever could actually get there anymore in this TV landscape. The 2020 show earned 18.7M viewers in final numbers, while the 2019 edition raked in 19.9M sets of eyeballs.

As mentioned, the night made history several times over, awarding Doechii for Best Rap Album and finally honoring Beyoncé with Album of the Year for Cowboy Carter — capping another year dominated by female winners. That is, except for Kendrick Lamar, who took home Song of the Year, Record of the Year and three additional Grammys for “Not Like Us.” See the full winners list here.
