Grammys 2025: Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars Honor L.A. With an Emotional Cover of ‘California Dreamin” — Watch
Two of music’s biggest superstars teamed up to pay tribute to the City of Angels.
Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars joined forces at Sunday’s Grammys ceremony to sing the Mamas and the Papas’ 1965 classic “California Dreamin'” to honor Los Angeles in the wake of the devastating wildfires that burned throughout the city last month. Accompanied by acoustic guitar and a chorus of backup singers, Mars and Gaga — who won a Grammy later that evening for their duet “Die With a Smile” — put an emotional spin on the retro hit that boasts lyrics like “I’d be safe and warm/If I was in L.A./California dreamin’/On such a winter’s day.” (Watch video of the performance below.)

The Grammys drew attention to the L.A. wildfires throughout the show, with an opening number of Randy Newman’s “I Love L.A.” performed by Los Angeles natives Dawes and backed by an all-star lineup featuring John Legend and Sheryl Crow. Host Trevor Noah also invited viewers to donate to charities helping local L.A. residents rebuild after the fires that destroyed thousands of buildings and homes and caused billions of dollars in damage.
