Celebrities Reveal Their Style Tips and More at WWD’s First Golden Globes Red Carpet Livestream Pre-show

“On the red carpet, it’s all about the angles that you create,” said Elle Fanning on Sunday afternoon, making her way down the Golden Globes red carpet in a Balmain gown and jewels by Cartier.

The actress, who was nominated for her role in “The Great,” got ready for the 82nd annual awards ceremony with sister Dakota Fanning. Elsewhere on the red carpet, Dakota shared her glam “secret”: Cleau de Peau — she’s an ambassador — and “just genuine happiness,” she said.

“It’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever put on my body,” said “Anora” lead Mikey Madison of her custom Bottega Veneta gown, composed of gold paillettes. “I’m very excited, I’m honored to be here — a little overwhelmed, but in a good way,” she added. “I’m feeling all the feelings. I mean, I never thought that this would be something that is a reality in my life.”

“It’s so surreal,” said “Monster” star Cooper Koch of attending his first Golden Globes. The actor was outfitted in an Armani suit and Tiffany accessories for the occasion. “I’m so grateful to be here. I’ve had a great day,” he added. “It’s been such a gorgeous day here [in L.A.]. I woke up pretty early and I watched a sunrise.”

The first-time nominees were in good company — award show veterans also shared their nerves with the livestream cohosts. “I still get nervous, but I mean, listen — it’s so fun to be nominated, and this is the most fun one of all of them,” said Keri Russell, dressed in a Stephane Rolland look. “I like handsome chic clothes,” she added. “I like to feel cool versus overly done.”

“I want to push the boundaries of fashion, but I want to feel like myself,” said Melissa McCarthy, wearing a pink jumpsuit by Christian Siriano. “Because I think that’s when we look our best — at least, when it’s when I feel my best.”

Marren Morris, wearing a corseted Carolina Herrera gown, also stressed the importance of authentic dressing.

“I’m a songwriter. I’ve never been here before, never been nominated. This is my first for everything. So I was like, I just want to feel like myself,” said Morris, who was nominated for her best original song for animated film “The Wild Robot.”

Cynthia Erivo, who’s been channeling Elphaba with her fashion throughout the “Wicked” press tour, paid homage to her character’s famous accessory at the Golden Globes.

“We’ve basically been dancing in the world of Elphaba — she’s green but she wears a lot of black — so we’ve been playing with the structure of things, and this is like the top of the hat. Playing with the shapes that you get to see her in, and this is one of the results of that,” said Erivo of her angular Louis Vuitton gown. The actress added that she was looking forward to celebrating the evening with her costar Ariana Grande.

“I get to sit at the table with Ari, who’s a first-time nominee, and she’s really deserving of it,” said Erivo. “I’m so proud of her; to be able to look across the table and see that moment for her.”

“The Brutalist” star Adrien Brody, wearing Thom Browne, got ready for the carpet with partner Georgina Chapman.

“It starts with a great film, and then that gives you legs to stand on,” said Brody of getting ready for the awards ceremony. “It’s much easier to be here because you have something that you’re incredibly grateful for, and proud of being a part of. I’m so happy for my fellow cast and my director, and all the creative efforts that went into making this movie,” he added. “It took a village to get me ready today.”

“I’m not known for my extensive beauty,” said “Baby Reindeer” star Richard Gadd. “I think I probably started about five minutes before I got in the car,” he added, teasing that his current bearded look is for the show he’s filming, “Half Man.”

Pamela Anderson’s beauty secret? “Serum, mask and lip balm,” she said.

“I try to sleep,” said “Hacks” star Paul W. Downs. “That’s the biggest thing. I try and drink water. And then I work with Jessica Ortiz, who makes me look good.”

“Heidi Klum and I are really very close friends, and we were talking about this last night,” said Sharon Stone, asked what years of attending carpets and runways have taught her. “Number one: don’t wear shoes that you think make you taller, don’t wear shoes that you think look right with your dress — wear shoes you can walk in when you’re on the red carpet.”
