The General Hospital star announced his engagement to Michelle Lundstrom, a content creator who recently appeared on season 2 of Netflix’s Barbeque Showdown, in an Instagram post on Saturday. The post shared jointly with Lundstrom features a series of photos depicting Burton popping the question on one knee and the couple embracing in front of various picturesque backgrounds.

"Engaged 1/3/25. ❤️💍," Burton wrote, then quoted the Bible verse Jeremiah 29:11: "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'"

It's been an eventful few years for Burton, whose longtime role as the mobster Jason Morgan suddenly came to an end in 2021, after he refused to comply with a COVID-19 vaccine mandate. Burton played Morgan from 1991 to 2012 on the series and picked the role back up in 2017, until his appeal for "medical and religious exemptions" to the vaccine was denied, leading to his departure in 2021.

He returned to the role in 2024 after making a surprise appearance during General Hospital's 60th-anniversary special in January. But that wasn't the only bumpy ride of his past few years.

Burton posted a story to his Instagram in May 2022 announcing his separation from his longtime partner, the fitness coach Sheree Burton. "She recently announced that she's expecting her 4th child. The child is not mine," he wrote, but confirmed that he and Sheree plan to continue co-parenting their three children - Makena, 18; Jack, 16; and Brooklyn, 7.

The Burtons finalized their divorce in December 2023.

Burton announced he was dating Lundstrom in May 2024 and brought her to the Daytime Emmy Awards in June, where General Hospital took home seven awards, the most of any daytime soap that night.

The actor previously appeared on over 400 episodes of The Young and the Restless as Dylan McAvoy, and over 100 episodes of Days of Our Lives as Harris Michaels.
