Former Neighbours star welcomes first child with stepbrother: 'Miracle'

Former Neighbours star Scarlet Vas has revealed that she and her husband Tayo Ricci have welcomed their first child together. Scarlet, who played Mishti Sharma on the soap from 2017 to 2018, married her stepbrother Tayo in Greece last year and announced their pregnancy in September.

The couple took to social media on Christmas Day to share that they had welcomed their baby daughter to the world. They posted a sweet photo of themselves in the hospital cuddling their newborn, although they chose to cover her face with an emoji and not reveal her name.

“Our Christmas miracle has finally arrived. Merry Christmas from our family to yours,” they wrote.

The announcement received a mixed response from followers, with one person calling them “dadncle” and “mumuntie” and another remarking that their child “only has one set of grandparents”.

“A kid with your stepbrother how natural,” someone else commented. However, a majority of people sent their well wishes and said they would be “the best parents”.

“Most amazing beautiful experience life has to offer congrats!” one follower wrote, followed by a different user who said, “Awww you all look so happy and cute together! Be happy and proud to be parents!”.

How are Scarlet and Tayo related?

Scarlet and Tayo met as teenagers while growing up in Melbourne and became step-siblings when their parents got married. Despite being “family”, the two fell in love and have been together for 10 years.

“We were about 13 years old when we first met through mutual friends, our families knew each other and they introduced us I guess you could say. So we’ve known each other for a very long time,” Scarlet told news.com.au, emphasising that they are “definitely not blood-related”.

She added that while some people describe their relationship as “weird” and “gross”, she doesn’t care what others think because she and Tay have each other.

“I don’t really read our comments section, but if I do, I actually laugh. We find trolls very entertaining,” she remarked. “If something’s really negative, we might comment back, we find it is quite a good disarming tactic.”

Scarlet and Tayo moved to America following her stint on Neighbours and became content creators when Covid affected the acting industry.

The couple shot to viral fame on OnlyFans, while Tayo is also a musician and TikTok star with over 8 million followers. Scarlet revealed earlier this year that she's been consistently earning over $200k on the adult platform.
