Fear of God Debuts Its Largest Essentials Collection to Date
Fear of God is debuting its largest Essentials collection to date for the holiday season.
The Los Angeles-based brand helmed by designer Jerry Lorenzo on Wednesday will unveil its latest Essentials collection, offering 110 styles across T-shirts, sweaters, tracksuits, sweat sets and more pieces. Like past Essentials lines, Lorenzo took inspiration from a collegiate aesthetic.

“Sometimes it gets hard to edit — it gets hard to pull back,” Lorenzo said about the larger collection. “I also thought it’d be really cool to show the depth and range of this kind of American college point of view. To me, it’s almost kind of endless in its approach and the perspective. You can really take all of these everyday pieces from your closet and really make it chic and really make it elegant with just a touch — whether it’s a knit cardigan or a knit blazer or an oversize tailored jacket or overcoat — you can really distribute this more-sophisticated feel.”
The collection also features archival, logo-emblazoned core styles that were fan favorites from 10 years ago, according to Lorenzo.
Fear of God is presenting the holiday 2024 Essentials collection in a look book, with the pieces styled with Fear of God’s Eternal collection from its main luxury line. The images feature looks like a crewneck paired with an oversize blazer and jeans, a T-shirt styled with a chunky knit cardigan and dress shirts styled with sweatpants.
“Something that we’ve done when we first started Essentials is bring in our luxury mainline, footwear and overcoats, so we’ve done this in the past,” Lorenzo said about the look book. “As the brand has grown, we’ve strategically attempted to separate Athletics, Essentials and Luxury, but more and more it just feels more honest to bring them together — to be able to just tell the complete story, because when we’re designing them to live in their separate pillars, we’re designing them with the entire house of Fear of God in mind. Just being able to show our audience how all three of these brands begin to live together in our mind, which is really obvious. Sometimes we just thought it was necessary to remind our following on how the three can live together.”
Lorenzo introduced Fear of God Essentials in 2018, five years after launching the Fear of God brand. The Essentials pillar offers accessibly priced loungewear and streetwear-inspired items. Fear of God’s Essentials line has become a favorite of many celebrities and has its own distribution partners, such as Pacsun and Urban Outfitters, separate from the brand’s main line.
“It’s just the basic essentials that support your wardrobe,” Lorenzo said about Essentials’ role in the overall Fear of God brand. “Not everything in your closet needs to be luxury. There are some things you just want to throw on and not everyone in the world can invest luxury dollars into a full wardrobe, so it’s being able to fill in those holes within your closet, from an elevated perspective and from an aspirational perspective that doesn’t feel like it’s a watered-down piece next to a luxury piece. [Fear of God’s pillars] all feel like they harmoniously live together, so that’s the intention in which we designed and created Essentials to basically support your wardrobe.”
Fear of God Essentials holiday 2024 collection ranges in price from $30 to $300. The collection will be available to purchase on Wednesday on the brand’s website and then will be available at stockists like Nordstrom, Selfridges, Mr Porter and others starting Friday.
