Fans outraged after The Voice's Guy Sebastian's shock pick
This year’s The Voice has already been dominated by cheating scandals and headline-grabbing antics.
And as contestants continue to be whittled down, it seems the drama has yet to reach its crescendo.
Now, Guy Sebastian has shocked the show’s audience after he opted to advance Australia’s Got Talent winner Jack Vidgen to the finals instead of fan favourite Chriddy Black.
Battling it out
The outrage followed some viewers’ assessment Chriddy sang better than Jack in the deciding round and ‘connected with’ the song, Say Something, better than his opponent.
“Cannot believe Guy didn't pick Chriddy, he was the much better singer,” wrote one angered fan.
“But I guess he's going for the contestant who has gotten ridiculous amounts of media coverage.”
“Total BS. Chriddy absolutely killed that performance! Hate this all star crap! Big mistake Guy.”
Compounding fans’ outrage was the fact Jack has already achieved widespread success and notoriety after winning $250,000 on AGT in 2011.
My vote is on talent alone ... Chriddy won that! ... voice like honey to the bee ❤️ #TheVoiceAU

“(Chriddy’s) tone is like no one in this competition and Jack's already won a competition so give Chriddy a shot ffs this show is ridiculous I'm mad,” noted another viewer.
However some fans believed Guy made the right choice, with one writing on Instagram, “You were gentle and vulnerable and that's what the song called for.
“Chriddy was great too. But, you deserve it. Karmically you have unfinished business. You were born to sing.”
‘We both won’
However, Jack was quick to clap back to claims of criticism and took to Twitter in support of both his co-star’s performance and Guy’s decision.
“Chriddy and I both won that battle,” he wrote. “We won a battle against ourselves and I’ll forever cherish that moment.”

But this is far from the first time the show’s celebrity coaches have caused a stir by striking up a close relationship with a contestant they knew of in the past.
Delta Goodrem caused a stir earlier this week when it was revealed one of her contestants once worked as a backing singer to the star.
Natasha Stuart, who, like Delta, is a cancer survivor, chose her coach after feeling she ‘connected so deeply to where I'm at now and what I'm going through’.
