MAFS star responds to fans' concern

Former Married at First Sight star Elizabeth Sobinoff has posted a cryptic rely after fans flocked to her Instagram page when she posted a photo of herself looking very different to the way she appeared on the show.

Since filming wrapped on this year’s season of the controversial franchise, Lizzy has changed her hair colour, makeup look and lost weight - with many of her followers commenting on the latter when she shared a photo in a low-cut black jumpsuit this week.

“So tiny…,” one person said, while others wrote, “Where have your luscious hips gone!!!” and “Wow u have lost so much weight”.

A fourth person summed it up well by saying, “She was publicly shamed on TV and called fat, to the nation. But the moment she loses weight you’re all [Instagram commenters] telling her to eat a cheeseburger.”

They were referring to the moment Lizzy’s ‘scientifically matched’ husband, Sam Ball, said he doesn’t normally date women of her ‘size’, despite the fact that Lizzy was never overweight.

Responding to fans

Although not all the reactions to the post were negative, and many also praised Lizzy’s new look, the 27-year-old seemingly responded to the comments in a second post.

Assuring her followers that she’s doing well, Lizzy wrote, “In a good head space right now, hoping everyone has had at least one smile cross their faces today.”

She has previously said that she lost 10kgs after the show and that she has an auto-immune condition that means her weight is always changing.

“I think I always look fabulous,” she told NW magazine, “I’ve thought that when I weighed 49kg and when I’ve weighed 90kg.”

“I’m actually dealing with some health conditions that cause my weight to fluctuate... I may gain weight again and that’s ok. The most important thing is that I’ve always been mentally strong.”

Tumultuous time

Lizzy’s relationship with Sam didn’t last long on the show, with commotion first starting when Sam ditched Elizabeth the day after their nuptials to attend his ex-girlfriend’s mother’s funeral in New Zealand.

Weeks later, he and co-star Ines Basic shocked Australia - and their spouses - by carrying out a steamy, but short-lived affair.

If reports are anything to go by, the upcoming season of MAFS will be just as tumultuous, with rumours already flying that there will be even more couple swapping in 2020.
